@sincan

Well that depends on your data plan. But you can use one by handler mod version. And trick it for free use.

@prome

Thats not an early statement. I have been using uc for quite a long time since someone has released its v6.3 in english. About bolt, i am using that too. It is quite good browser. But taking about uc download manager, it somehow trick my operator. Dont know how? May be its download manager is such type. My operator restrict me to 3 mb downloading at a time. I cannot download morethan that at a time but thanks to uc, i can download more than that. Its stop and resume type. In preference, you set the block size and your downloading will pause for couple of secs, after that size. So your operator thinks that your downloading is finished and new downloading started but in phone it is continuous downloading. You fool your operator. This is not the case with bolt or op.

@mannu

What fixes you have applied in the official english v7.0 ? why your final installed version has size of 350+ kb whereas official version has 900+ kb size. Does that means something is missing from original version?

To Ceaser:

For your problem that can't show picture, you can go
1. "Menu"-"6.Preference"-"1.General Settings"-"Display".
2. There is a "Image Quality" option, you can choose "Micro","Low","Normal" or "High", and save your settings.
3. Then, the pics can be showed on your phone.

Yeah, i love and use ucweb for only downloading and uploading. It offers the best download and upload manager that NO OTHER browser offer. About surfing, it doesnot render the webpage as clear as operamini does on my K850i. It doesnot show pic in phonephotos section. but i love this and my phone needs it everyday.

It will just depend on the charge policy of your operator, UC doesn't charge anything when you use it.

Opera mini 4 is great when it works

Many aspects, like:

UC is more traffic efficient
UC has a pre-load mechanism
UC has a localized navigation system and search engine
UC has a dedicated form for forums, UC has a user-defined shortcut
UC have designed its broswer dedicated to specific OS/Platform, unlike Opera can be just installed on java

First off its Prom1; but I'll take prome as in Prometheus (but that name was taken).

I've used v6.3 since it was released for S60 as well and I'd rather have my data safe and not on some third party servers (banking information etc) with a company that is out of my country's legal juristiction should anything happen to thousands of users financial data. Yes I check financial data on my mobile smartphone - and right now I'm on THE most secure platform proven.

Right now I don't believe you're fully limited to 3MB. Maybe using the stock browser, but using a proxy still goes through your providers (ignoring wlan use) GGSN, so they can always tell how much data is going through. Unless their setup is incorrect and they cannot meter via IMEI/IMSI (which is what allows any data to go through before a proxy is reached .. then you're possibly over charged for it, or again they've setup their network stupidly (engineers or executive decision; take your pick). On my providers here in Canada there is no way this would work regardless of platform or browser used. Until you show us 3mths of bills to backup your claim about "fooling" your provider or multiple (excess of 10 users) of same type of phone and UC browser on same provider in same region ... sorry cannot believe that.

Whats a "pre-load" mechanism? This is just the proxy used much like Opera Mini if I'm not mistaken.
localized navigation system (using what, GPS or provider towers - that's not UC doing it just it utilizing it, any software can do this). Search Engine I'm sure uses Google/Bing/yahoo.
Dedicated form for forums??? you mean the layout? I have no issues using Bolt for Esato/howardforums/engadget/etc you name it no forums limit me; regardless of platform the boards where created with.

The last comment made by doesn't really make sense.
Opera IS based on Java and installs like it. UC has to be coded for a specific OS/Platform using Java or C++/Carbide C+/ etc. Not all platforms play well with Java ... S60 2nd/3rd/5th edition where horrible at Java vs SonyEricsson OSE phones. Opera Mini worked OK for S60 3rd FP1/FP2 but it was slow thus they made dedicated app for S60 opera mobile. Bolt ... just works and works well. You need to understand each platform before blaming the browser (limitations/benefits).

UC browser does NOT support flash content. It has its benefits and drawbacks just like any browser out there. Give it a try and see if it works for you.

@Prom1

Sorry for not writing your name correctly.

I really dont know that deep technicality about proxy. But in raw understanding, i only know one thing, this is the only browser which allows me to download or upload any given size. This is not the case with my default browser nor with opera nor with bolt. I have clearly mentioned in my previous post that i use this browser for downloading and uploading stuffs only. My main browser is operamini.

I donot check any financial stuffs on mobile. Because i dont need to. I have all the facilities at my doorstep or i can just make a call and know everything.

Hello Prom1:

Form your post, we can judge you have many experience in mobile browsing.

First of all, Pre-load technology is not a proxy. With Pre-load technology, when there is a keywork, like "Next" or "Next Page", on the page you are viewing, the UC broswer will pre-load the "Next Page", so when you click the "Next Page" button, you don't need to wait, because it is already loaded.

Second of all, Localized Navigation Page. Based on the survey of the most popular sites in different countries, UC will deploy those sites to the Navigation Page. For instance, for indian people, UC will provide peperonity.com, orkut.com, rediff.com, and for U.S. people, UC will provide facebook.com, Yahoo.com, Twitter.com, and so on. Hence, different users from different country can get to their favorite site ASAP, by just clicking the links in the Navigation Page. You can have a try^_^

Thirid, Yes, I mean the layout for forums. With on doubt, you can get access to forums with Bolt, Opera, etc.. However, what I want highlight is UC can have a better display effect bacuase of their dedicated design for forums.

Forth about the Platform. What did I mean is different platform/OS has different features. According to those features, UC desinged its broswer dedicated to different platform. Compare to Opera Mini, you should have a java to support that, and the running of opera mini is based on java but not dedicated to the platform. Just for a simple example. When you run UC on Nokia N73 and Nokia 3200, you will have different experience because UC on N73 is develodped based on Symbian V3, and UC on Nokia 3200 is developed based on Java.

Thanks

Java is fine on S60v5, ive got Java Run Time2.0 installed, VERY stable and not resource hungry, both Java and S60v5 versions of UC run just fine on my phone.

@ceaser2008 The fixed version only for java. Other one are original as it is. Higher size ver for S60 or others.
---
UC supports flash for limited platform some S60 and S40 but still in chinese ver.
---
For localized navigation UC has dedicated servers for different countries.
---
UC available for almost all common platform and others like iPhone version soon available in english. This make easy to use it in any phone.

no need to create myths...

UC for Symbian (sisx version)
UC for Java (jar/jad version)
Opera for Symbian (sisx version called Mobile)
Opera for Java (jar/jad version called Mini)

GUCCI.011 Java is just slow, much slower to load on existing deployed S60 versions than on any other platform - for the same respective J2ME app.

@ Ieva,

Great explanation ... thank you for clarifying that up for me. Guess I'm getting old with these new technologies. I'll see if I can post a screenshot of what I see in this forum on Bolt and compare it to what you see on UC. Localized Navigation Page; I remember OperaMini & Bolt, only began with default Navigation (home page) which wasn't localized for every country. Glad UC has taken this approach.

Raiderski, I think you and ieva are both correct.
