@se_dude, maybe not all the features are true but I bet some are true. Even a company like Apple has to introduce new features at times to succeed. At the moment most phones thrash the hell out of the iPhone apart from the OS.
Take the OMNIA HD for example
3.7" AMOLED Touchscreen with 360*640 resolution while the iPhone has a 3.5" TFT Touchscreen with 320*480 resolution
8MP camera with AF,LED Flash tons of other features and HD Ready video recording and not a basic 3 MP Cam
The list goes on and on. So Apple really need to boost their device.
Samsung Galaxy S II Blackberry 9100 Pearl, 9300 Curve Nokia-N8,N95 8GB, N91, N90, E90 Sony Ericsson-W580, W800, S700, T303, C702 |

With Apple it's ALL about the end user experience, so forget about features for features sake - it's never been about the numbers. On numbers, every iPhone has been "beaten" by the contemporary competition, but in reality we all know it's largely unbeaten in terms of market share and user satisfaction.
Apple could not give two figs whether the next iPhone matches or exceeds the Omnia HD or any other phone you could name - they just want to better the overall experience of the current iPhone, which is something that no other phone on the market can do.

...We’ve heard that the new iPhone 4G is expected to have:
* OLED Touchscreen
* Dual Core Processor
* Removable Battery
* 5 Megapixel Camera (HD Video Recording and LED Flash is also likely)
* Video Calling
* Double Storage Capacities (64GB and 32GB)...
Boinng is right with his comments above.^^
There's very little chance of any of that making it's way into the next iPhone except perhaps for the HD video recording already available in the Nano.

It seems we'll have two variants of this iPhone, a gsm and a cdma. The date is set to this june 22nd.
Multitasking is mentioned as part of the features of this phone. A 960x640 display also. More here: http://www.engadget.com/2010/[....]hone-plus-another-for-verizon/

Ok ok, I want my say, I try and keep away from the iPhone threads for the following reason, but oh well:
I just want to say that the iPhone's design is now just under 3 years old, June 2007. A 3.5" display is nothing compared to the HD2 for example. Yes, what Boinng said about the GUI being easy to use etc is true, but it shouldn't be. Apple should (and can) come up with the ultimate phone, boasting value (£30 a month ish), power (HD2 ish specs) and a good UI. This is a combination which is possible, but Apple just got greedy. They should make even a slight change to the design of the phone everytime they bring a new one out, but no, that costs too much and they might lose money . Apple, losing money, am I going mad??
Another thing is, yes, it was their first attempt at a phone, and if it wasn't for advertising, it would have been a faliare, in fact, in my honest opinion, it is. I know lots of people who have an iPhone, and if you ask them why, you get the most pathetic answers ever:
"It looks good when your on the phone"
"Its cool"
"Its good for sat nav"
All of the above might be true, but its still not a good enough reason to buy a £400 phone. And when you do ask the people if they like it, most say I would get something else at the end of my contract. Some even carry a sh!tty old nokia around with them too.
They miss out the simple stuff, such as copy and paste, and have to bring out an update to get it. Childish
Oh, and the last thing, if you ask them about the app store, well, nobody seems to know what it is, because of jailbreaking. There is not one person I know who has an iPhone (out of over 20) that do have one, who has not jailbroken their phone because "the apps are a rip off". Speaks for itself, if you spend £400 on a phone, why don't you get a £20 iTunes voucher to get you started, the reason, greedyness.
Sort it out Apple, its childish
Rant over
Cheers

It looks great, never liked the rounded 3g and 3gs and it's about time I got a new one, still using the 2g since 2007. Looks like it's gonna cost £600 on payg! |

Very very tempted to get my first iPhone after seeing this. Really like the style, and OS4 looks good.
And I might add, I never doubted Engadget that it was the real iPhone. So many people did.

WWDC10 is on 7th June, so I guess we only have to wait until then to find about the next gen iPhone!
