surely it would be better to test the device properly before wheeling it out only to get a load of bad press because of crapness. SE always seem to skimp on memory, the P series always seemed to chug along at its own pace, and how often did you get the not enough memory message when opening office documents? the cost of memory is not that much these days and it would make more sense to chuck in more, than just enough. the fact the phone actually has the not enough memmory message in its programming suggests they knew it would be weak in that department if you wanted to open bigger documents. it is no use having all the bells and whistles if the power isn't there to ring them.
i do agree though that the branding that virgin and O2 and orange etc put on does add to the problems of devices. i have a mate who works for the local telecoms and he hacked the registry in his xda to remove the branding which improved it's stabillity significantly. many things come from the htc stable and if they left left operating system alone they would be better for it. |

Sure there are some issues and annoyances but what phone hasn't had them? Heck, after the terrible experiences with launch firmwares of the Nokia 5800, N97 and Samsung Omnia HD, I think the Satio has been the best of the bunch amongst S60v5 devices.
Let's hope this is a temporary issue and gets resolved ASAP.

Why do these manufacturers not have beta test in the public domain the way software developers do, it would certaintly improve the release of devices like this, ok it might cost a little but the benefits must surely outweigh the cost. Al they need to do is look on these forums and there are plenty of people they could recruit to beta test. |

I don't think I'd settle for another S60 phone. My satio is three branded and it has no bugs but the UI is hardwork compared to A200.

What are you guys doing to Crash and Freeze your Satio??
I have had my Satio for just over 1month and it is working perfectly. The battery lasts just as long as my previous C905.
I am very happy with this phone and i admit the Symbian takes a bit of getting used to but i have had no problems as yet.
I bet a lot of the problems arise from using incompatible apps with the phone (S60v3) or using N97 only apps (Different hardware)
Satio wins for me. |

Oddly, my Satio doesn't freeze or reboot either. I have an 8GB card, loaded with lots of legal and "illegal" freebies and it works just fine. I play with it all day long but it has no problem. Of course the battery lasts only one day, the touchscreen response is so 2006, but functionally it's perfect! |

i read somewhere before that carphone warehouse had lots of returns of the n96 i think it was because people could not fathom the s60 ui after something different.
maybe the same is happening with satio.

I don't understand this thing people are saying that Symbian is confusing. I have never had a problem working its menus i never ever have had to refer to any manual.

same here bonovox. It isn't difficult...i think s60 v5 is quite clumsy. Having said that, the omnia hd got another firmware update today and its even more responsive than it was previously. .if thats possible... I'm hugely impress'd with how snappy it is. |

well I have just joined the satio club today, wow what a cleaver device, it is working perfectly and is a delightfull improvement from my P1i which was fine and worked perfectly but the satio just takes things to another level, I do have the vodfone branding which I have spent several hours trying to circumvent, devinci hurry up, all in all this device is simply superb, anyone here complaining needs to really look at what they have and see if they can find it elseware....I doubt it

I think though alot of returns could be just your average consumer. But it could also be individual handsets made in certain weeks that are playing up. I often read on here of people having problems with phones made in for instance week37 but others made in week38 are fine.

Its not a hardware issue. Coz if it were, it would have been known. All pones shipped with the same firmware i guess. |

Everyone has different requirements and usage conditions of their Satio. The conditions and multitude combinations of hardware (wifi chips,cell network connectivity,other applications open,applications that have closed) are not a constant for every Satio user. Test conditions can never reproduce every Satio users environment, but hopefully a majority are covered. As you say it is a good product.
My first Vodafone Satio was a bad one. Rebooting and freezing at least 5 times a day. Besides those, I too was happy with the physical design of it (only gripes are battery (I have to have Screen to the min, touch vib off),lens cover in pocket issues).
My second one is a lot more stable have had less reboots.. and forced battery pulls... but I still get them now and then (cannot answer a call,volume up down issues)... These I'm hoping will be fixed in Firmware.
For me it's what Vodafone have done to it, And like you ... have had to work my way around branding issues that stop installations of other symbian software. also the fact that Vodafone removed some of the software that you'll get on a standard SE one. Roadsync and wisepilot. I don't know if the supplied versions are any good but I would have been good to of had the choice!
