I have my own wallpaper installed on the 1st screen and even if I changed the entire theme for all screens to a nokia one everything works as normal.
I havent had any issues not using the SE ones.

Build your own themes with Own Skin website (free and easy)
Or you can just download from Zedge
But for both websites you should choose N97 instead of Satio

Anyone has any clue on how to modify the Sony Ericsson standby theme ? I really do not want the media bar coming just below the date/time unless I play media. Also I want to replace a purple Yahoo icon which is there at bottom right as I do not connect to Yahoo much..

Any help is appreciated.

I hope that the next firmware update will actually update the Sony Ericsson software and give it new features, not just bug fixes.

The standby screen should at least have the option to show upcoming appointments or perhaps tasks/notes or whatever.

They may then add an equaliser to the music player. Even though the settings are probably optimal, people like to adjust things - and some people prefer more bass, more treble or being able to completely ruin their music altogether! Let them do it, they've paid enough for the privilege!

When viewing pictures, there could also be more options available when you click on an image - saving you from having to go into the media browser. Perhaps an option to change the way the pictures are shown (so they're not cropped - which is bad if you're taking photos in widescreen mode).

Ditto for the video player - with an option to adjust the way files are listed.

Nothing too hard for Sony Ericsson I would have thought.

@jmcomms ... does the standby theme of full screen not show calendar bits on yours ?
I get them on mine (no notes or tasks though !)

btw .... you can use 5800 expressmusic ones as well
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

I don't want to give up the SE standby screen just to get appointments showing up.

There's plenty of room on the SE screen to have things like this. In fact, I'd be expecting a future version to offer different layouts so you might be able to place widgets or other boxes on the screen.

That is assuming SE has any intention of supporting the Satio for the future, or just forgetting about it for the next-generation devices out in 2010 with the new look UI and features (starting with the X10).

My gut instinct says the Satio may never get new features, just a few more tweaks and bug fixes. What we have is all we'll have... no big '2.0' firmware update like the N97!

Had this theme installed the 2nd day i got my Satio. No problems at all.
Just google "NewDarkShimmer5th" if you think its cool. Orange has always been a colour for Sony Ericsson.

The next Theme Creator will support Satio (sources:SE Dev Team)
We will be able to edit the homescreen hopefully like the icons frames transparancy to see more of our wallpapers.
I don't know if SE will release a ''universal'' theme where any wallpaper we have on the phone can fit 100% of the screen, actually if you choose a random wallpaper the highest part (2mm) will be cut (replaced by the theme wallpaper), which is really weirdo

@jmcomms .... I hear what your saying there .... i may well "lose" my Satio when the X10 gets
released !

For thos e feeling really brave .... Nokia Carbide UI Theme edition .... It's "huge" and convoluted
but you can change/mod/add any colour, image or icon you want !!!

Im wondering why there isnt some community made for the Satio.
Its a brilliant phone. People should be going nuts making applications games and themes for this state of the art phone. I would love to have a few applications so i can shut up the smug I-phone contenders !

On a personal note: Is there any way of selecting a letter when scrolling through songs in media, or does one HAVE to scroll ALL the way down just to get to "T" for example ??!

Yeah, I would really like to start theming for Satio and share them here. But for now, I tried a bunch of N kia themes on Satio with latest firmware, and they all seem to work fine.
Can someone tell me how to extract sis-themefiles? Then I can start theming without a damned theme-creator.
For UIQ3, I just rename the .utz extension to .zip to open the package, .thm=.tar, and all of these formats are easy to repack.
Iīm used to theming without a (SE) theme creator due to annoying restrictions. Like not being able to keep the mediaplayer backgrounds on a C702-theme and stuff like that. But over a year ago I noticed Esato didnīt accept my themes unless I opened and saved with SE theme-creator (and losing the mediabackgrounds that really finish the theme).
Iīm afraid Iīll have to start using Nokia-software soon if SE doesnīt come up with something decent. Where can I find Nokiaīs latest theme creator?
