Yes the battery is better. The best thing to do with the new battery is to leave the phone on charge turned off until it's ready to go. It then gets better and better a week or so in. I can use mine for the day now and only lose one block of the battery.
The Orange Firmware is horrible too. The completely debranded firmware is much better and lots faster.
There's some good info on that site and some free apps/games to download. |

I'm running the Italian IG2 AAC firmware.
All the firmwares are available from that site but you would need to download the previous Italian firmware, which is IE6 and rebrand. Once you've done that you can get all of the latest debranded updates through the PC Studio.
It's no hassle as long as you do a full backup in PC Studio, then you just need to set the language to UK after switching the phone back on the first time and restore the backup after upgrading.
The handset goes on proper worldwide release on the 1st Aug so there should hopefully be some proper English firmware to rebrand too soon after. I've always found Samsung to be farily good with new releases, I upgraded 5 or 6 times with the previous Omnia. |

What country is the Firmware?
You may be able to upgrade to IG2 via the PC Studio, it's out officially from Samsung for quite a few of the European countries now. |

heed the warning tho sly. Be careful. You could blow the speakers if you raise the volume 2 loud in the settings.
It's worse than that. There is a bug in the Italian firmware where if you change the defaults it can anytime change the volume to 100db and damage the speakers. I speak from experience- ir does happen. |

something else whicq pisses me off about this phone. There's an app called 'photo contacts' which you just can't close, except with handy taskman..why? It's pointless that it remains running in the background..does it happen on other firmwares? Mines running I8910XXIE6 which is polish. Also, i sometimes see SCREEN CAPTURE running but i can't find the app itself, going through the menu's.
