Hi I've just got my W995 today. I haven't upgraded the software yet and just set the alarm to see if it worked. The first time I just set it and nothing happened, but when I looked through the settings I found an option at the top to chose which sound I wanted so set it to an mp3 track and the alarm came on. This isn't a function I ever use anyway but I'll try it out a few times to see if it still comes on. Just done a few videos and no problem with cutting out. I'm thinking maybe I won't bother with an update. I've never updated any of my phones  |

After attempting to mod the boot files, and reverted back to the original G705 files, the problem went back again. Last time when I performed a similar action, it started to have that bug too. Coincidence? I doubt it... |

Seems like a bit of a mixed bag then. The odd thing is it doesn't do it everytime, and there seems to be nothing in particular that causes it whilst I'm recording. I thought it may have been me using the zoom, but I've tried it without and doesn't have any effect.
I'm going to give the whole memory card idea a go, and remove it to see if the problem keeps happening or not. |

i bought the w995 two days ago and think the shop sold me a phone that had been returned by someone else! the screen protector was dirty adn the box was not sealed.
but the reason for my post is the software bugs with my new phone, turned it on yesterday and it crashed at the sony startup screen so i restarted and the wifi started but the phone did not find any mobile networks, also the wifi started but would not search for any available networks, also the bluetooth settings were unavailable. i tried to reset the phone but it kept freezing. this is another version of the W910i with the same crappy "dirty" software that sony insist on putting into their phones. invest in cleaner processing plants and this wont happen!
my phone is gone back to the store for replacement and they wont have a brand new phone for me until tuesday, there seems to be a shortage of these handsets and i wonder if that is due to sony not releasing any more due to the problems?

Don't have problems with the alarm as it works fine on mine, even before the firmware upgrade and after!

I got my new W995 last week, Upgraded firmaware R1EA033... Working like a charm, Have not noticed any problem, not a single crash yet  (My old phones W902 & K850i used to crash everyday)... Can't comment on video recording bechause i've not tried to record video... I hope my phone will keep work like a charm  |

I'm having exactly the same problem. It started when i was playing about with my new phone and i selected the option to update media...not really knowing what i was doing! Anyways ever since then when i'm recording or taking a picture it will either cut out or refuse to take the picture, also it does not do this all the time. I've also noticed that when it happens my wallpaper and screen saver picture disappear as do all my photos and music files...sometimes it even happens when i haven't been touching the phone, it also says that i don't have any memory, when i have an 8gb memory and the phone memory isn't full either. Everything seems to go back to normal once i take out the battery and restart the phone. Its a real pain! Gonna take it back to the shop see what they say!! |

here i found a small problem...
when u zoom the pictures in file manager in landscape mode then i u press the back the picture switches to vertical mode.. so need to press landscape option to turn the picture lanscape.. annoying... this probelm is not found in other phones... |

I have my W995 more than 2 months and is working perfect. For me is the best phone I ever had: no reboots, is fast, etc. It is silver and using R1GA026 fw.

Damn, there goes one theory - mine is black & has the 1225-5471 R1EA032 090501 fw. No problems so far either, phone (w995i) working great

mines a black w995, it seems to be happeneing more often now, won't even save any pictures or videos. still at least its under warranty, i feel a vist back to the shop is in store....hmmmm now where did i put that receipt!!! |

This phone is perfect except that with the latest firmware, there's no album art in the album list which a friggin joke for a flagship Walkman. I do not know what those idiots at SE are thinking, let alone doing. And I hope they 'c' can also be for silence like the older phones in the next fw update so that there's no need to slide the phone open for such a basic task

have the black w995  had it for almost 2 months now... so far no problems with the alarm (whew!) .... fw r1ga026
though i did notice that when i turn off the phone and i turn it back on again...startup screen is a bit slow...takes maybe about 1 - 2 mins..... but its a minor complaint |
