oy! hello! this aint a marketting strategy thread... we are technicall people!
so dont say who cares!
at the end of the day, its the perpective of those who buy the phones.. if someone doesnt mind that s40 doesnt have multitasking, then there's no point on arguing with them...
however, if someone is debating about s40vs sumthng else, then the debate has a meaning...
cause the plus and minus points come out.
and the debaters both get to know more things about the topics...
right QVGA???
and s40 is cheap??????????
  man! that was funny! cheap compared to what? 20,000? thats even more funnier!!!!
compare nok s40 with same range phone..
SE still has multi-tasking...
and if the phone is Walkman, it beats it in musik, and if its Cyber-shot, it beats it in Pictures...
and they sell, cause people buy them... its more because of nokia's marketting..
not not all phones have 3.5mm jacks.. just the few new ones... and their build quality is like 4/10 whereas SE has truly stylish build quality..#like look at the w350, personally i think the phone is a wastage! but it is just so stylish...
k850 is brillian!!!! the camera is top-class... its got mediaplayer3.... superb interface....
it totally did what it was did to... it just raised the bar for other phones....
simplicity with s40? ya maybe you have a point,,,
the phone is too simple for guys who like to have something solid,,,
thats why maybe it sells with so many people, because they cant handle sophistication...
sophistication is very good, if you know how to use it.
my dad still insists on a nokia, just because he doesnt know how to use so many functions... and many other people have similar views..
however, when a phone vs phone comparison is made, s40 lags behind...

 once again, WHO CARES? The majority of s40 users dont even care for such things. XM phones have superior audio quality to the Walkmans atleast 5610xm vs. W910, yes S40 is cheap, the majority of s40 phones are cheap, NOKIA 5000 is cheaper than any low end SE, and SE phones just suck at holding their value.  Yes a200 can multitask but not very well especialy when you add Media App and heavy web pages so it becomes pointless on a a200 anyway. Not going to argue with you, you shout all the time, WTF is up with the : !!! ?.
Personaly id prefer a200 over s40, but i have a S60,so both a200 and s40 are crap and suck in my book.

you swear, are arrogant to the bit, and have no debating spirit!
cheap means the build quality, and they arent less priced than SE...
check market stats...
the point is not whether the s40 users mind all these things, its simple, cause if they did, they would have not bought s40 in the first place...
and one phone vs another phone wont solve the issue of s40 vs SE....
its all of s40 vs all of SE...
and any phone can be brought to its knees with heavy apps... even s60. i think you arent aware much about phones... like their processos or rams... or even how they handle apps...
so, in that case, i stop this debate with a note that i refuse to debate with someone who doesnt have a valid point to make...
let the original topic be carried on..

I think its a bit disingenuous to talk about dedicated music buttons and compare to the W910 not the W902.
Or talk about sound quality and not mention the award winning Clear Bass and Clear Audio.
And then claim some deficiency in SE for not competing at the Extreme Low End of the market.

S40 is more customizable. The themes completely change the interface unlike A200

You are correct, then again im simply comparing phones ive used, and as far as i know SE  audio production hasnt changed much since the W910,just the headphones, award winning? The N86 won a Cam Award, yet its still pretty far from release, and from what i can remember the Nokia N91 never won any Audio awards yet some how that phone remains the yardstick for all Music phones for audiophiles .Im not claiming any deficiency in SE, just pointing out that S40s are the cheapest out, look at Nokia 1680 and 3500c.

Realy? Shows how much i know about s40, everytime i see one i wana  but cant deny that they are very good phones for simple functionality.

I haven't had much experience with Nokia phones since the 6234, but animated themes for it were 1.3MB is size and didn't even have any animation on the wallpaper, only on the menu icons and that was a waste of time too. The standard memory card was 60MB and you guess how unpopular 1MB+ theme files were...
True animated themes for my V630i at the time were under 500kb.

and everything is so easy to use.

lotsa my friends s40 get hanged now-n-then...
new nokia phones with s40 have just got some updates like musik-player look....
but s40 has some good features, i am not saying its bad, just that they need to put in major updates...
like aktivity menu, and stop making cheap casings....
a2 menu's are really slick to look and feel, and the phone build quality is awesome too...

FYI S40 5th, and 6th editions CAN multitask - read mobile-review.com's excerpts on it, before making false statements. Yes SE's java runtime & development is still better but its getting very slim now.
btw, A2 is going close to 3yrs old now; with or without Capuchin support. Just case newer phones based on it are new does NOT mean it as a platform is newer. I thought you kids goto school? (I kid about that last part, sense of humor).
