Since the customer already has a contract with ATT, I don't see how unlocking the phone would make him change providers. I mean, this is completely unfunded since cancellation of service incurs a penalty comparable to buying a new phone. In the end they make their money anyhow. 50 dollar a month plan times 12 makes 600 dollars. add the 200 for the phone, and you have spent 800 dollars a year to make phone calls. Damn, saying it like this does sound a bit rediculous...
I've had ATT before, with TDMA, and I must say that it was fairly decent, even in the terms of customer service. But I can see how one would get frustrated that their shiny new T68 cannot be unlocked. I went overseas this winter and needed my T68 unlocked. Called T-mobile, and in 5 days time I received an e-mail with the unlock code and instructions. In my way back I brought over a GD87 and T-mobile people were very happy to assist me in setting up WAP access on it. As far as coverage it's not Verizon, but it works along the major highways of the East and Central states, such as 65, 75, 95, 59, 40, 10, and so on and so forth. This is from personal experience.
My point, since I got dragged into T-mobile, is that not being able to unlock a phone leaves you with a 200 dollar Solitare game console that you can't use anywhere. If ATT wanted to build customer loyalty they'd best offer these little extras. Not everyone knows of the existence of this forum, and furthermore not everyone is as tech saavy as us in here.

I was thinking about getting a gd-87 But it does not have JAVA!!! that is something that just doesn't fly with me..Thats why Im going to buy a 7210 later this week. Im just scared that the software might buggy, But I don't think this will be a problem since it has been out in europe for a few months any changes that needed to be made could have been made. |

it has an incomplete feel to it..
buy a T300 instead.. or a Nokia 6100, that's a good phone

I was told by a sales rep at ATT the sim cards are $25 then the activation fee. I do realize some frustration you all might have i own a t68m and a t68i both with sims and i called to unlock the t68m so i can sell it to a friend and they refused even though i am "loyal" to them with my t68i. I wont stop calling until its unlocked....which might be an eternity...nevertheless i like ATT alot |
