Hi !

Garmin 765T crashed and is totally unusable when I really needed it today. It was fully charged, did power up, then the screen of death appeared.

Halfords said they will replace it tomorrow...

Perhaps just unlucky with a duff unit..

unlucky I'd say

I've had a new Garmin unit almost every year now for 20 years (road and aviation) and never had a faulty unit and in all that time I can only recall 2 or maybe 3 restarts and fortunately they were only in the road units. the aviation units I've had have never let me down in flight

yes, very unlucky with the worst timing !

I am thinking about the 860T, but there are slight differences in function.

My main interest, you guess, is my unit displays Japanese so my mobile's phone book is great on the Garmin.

My question is - did you update the firmware on your 860T? If so, is Japanese now in the keyboard and screen language options?
