The Symbian Foundation S60 touch OS in the Idou is way ahead of WM IMO. I would never consider a WM device but would certainly like to have the Idou.
Plus, Nokia and ST Ericsson have developed some very powerful hardware to run their state-of-the-art software.
Well the main reason why i think SF OS is better than winMo is because of java implementation, WM is still crap with running Java applications(has very basic APIs only). and with the advent of Project Capuchin and it's planned release for Symbian platform, that further increases my excitement over it. although i still love Android.
Isn't that Capuchin stuff already in the X1? What's so great about Java based software anyway? It's inherently slower and more limited than native software. |

Xperia is also the state of the art. I, like Doministry, was uiq fan. P1 is great phone but a toy compared to x1. It is not hype that xpera is all about xperiance. Just to writte a message is pleasure, like driving nice Mercedes And overal PDA functionality is amazing. I hope Idou will bring something new but for now I must say that I am very satisfied with xperia. |

I'm not sure if stating that a WinMobile device is more solid then one running Symbian. I have had more reliability with my Pxxx line of SE phones over the past decade then the Xperia. Unfortunately, the MS OS still has it's way to go for sustained stability and minimal crashing.
By the way; I don't think the P1 was ever intended to be in the realm of the X1. I would say the P9xx line was a better equivalent. I'm sure any Pxxx veteran owners who first picked up a P800 years ago would agree.

I had P900, P910, P990 and P1. Those were good and fantastic phones. X1 is a completely new level, no phones any more but small laptops. Also I am glad that xperia has winmobile instead of UIQ. I wanted call recording, torrent downloading, real skype out calling, right mouse click functionality etc. From the other side some things are better in UIQ as percentige view of file transfer via bluetooth. There are flaws in winmobile, no doubt. It is beautiful xperia design - qwerty, screen, battery, optical mouse - that compensate those flaws. I admit I would never leave P1 for other current winmobile devices. |
