After my previous comment i just realised how over hyped the X1 was before release and how the hype and interest just totaly died when it was finaly realesed. hopefully they make something REALY good this time.

I think will eventually become a low/mid end mobile company till the point where it will just abandon the market. Just like motorola. They both got stuck in time and donīt know how to really innovate or distinguish themselves in the market anymore. All the devices seem predictable, disappointing or ījust another oneī. They should totally change the companyīs designers and engineers and start a new product/platform from scratch. X1 didnīt meet expectations, itīs a powerful device but still a very overpriced phone running an unfriendly outdated buggy OS. They are doing it wrong. should follow Palmīs steps and make an overhaul in the company. They got sony on their backs my god, go and do something. |

I am doing the same this like you, checking almost every day, but i think there will be something in soon. Take a brake get a KIT KAT chocolate . I think they are trying to make a world a little peacefull. they were hurrying too much with this kind of science . AND GREAT: I am peacefull too because i dont need to read a news anymore haha, other brands dont interesting me . hope you will understand me, greetings.. |

This is a make or break year for SE, and with the current economic crisis looming, they'd better have some tricks up their sleeves. But nothing more can be done now because what they planned 1-2 years back is what's gonna materialize in 2009. So if they were the same idiots who never took into account what their fans and phone review websites suggested back then, then tough. They'll get buried come year's end. I'm already feeling quite sick posting about this 'good' phone and that 'great' phone in this forum all the while realizing that other brands offer better value for money and I'm starting to get tired of being an SE fanboy, always defending and giving the benefit of the doubt. Help me out here you corporate pricks.

That's the problem. The X1 was/is a complete embarrassment in retrospect. Even at the time of the announcement, those of us who knew a little about contemporary WinMo devices could see it wasn't half as exciting as the hype warranted - and by the time it eventually arrived, complete with non-active panels and various bugs and build quality faults, it was a dinosaur - let's be honest.
It's frankly terrifying that in all this time, there hasn't been a single announcement of anything from SE that will even match the X1, let alone improve on it. What happened to the "Xperia" brand that was going to feature more than one model, and sport a variety of OSs, etc? If the X2 gets announced next week, are we looking at another December release? Yawn!

Could be interesting, since it's rumored to have the infamous 3.5mm jack. |

It's just a little bit too like every other Walkman slider phone they've made in recent memory though, isn't it? I can't see it exactly jumping off the shelf at people.
SE need a DRAMATIC shift in design, and something to fill their smartphone void.

On a passersby's glance it is reminiscent of any slider Walkman of the past age, but since it's not even announced yet it may be too early to be optimistic (or skeptic, for that matter).

. "Finally, the Sony Ericsson Hikaru will have a kickstand at the back, near the digital camera, (Nokia N96-stylebut cooler)" oookay, how much "cooler" can you make a kickstand?

Htc is a bit disappointed with the revenue it got from the 'mighty' X1. SE themself posted a loss in the last quarter and things don't look any better for them in this one. Ericsson insist of getting money back as usual, at the begin of each and every year. Sony themself are shaken to the core and dismissing people. Please chaps, get real for a change. What do you think about the latest Samsung s60 with hidef video rec? What is the best se video rec cell?

The SE and HTC relationship forged for the X1 obviously didn't go well, given that SE have stated they won't be working with HTC on future phones. Mind you, that could be something to do with the very poor build quality of the X1, such as the well publicised cracking of plastics and the keyboard problems that are now starting to plague users.
The X1 was never going to be a big hit after being delayed so long, though whether that was down to SE or HTC we'll probably never know. It certainly gave HTC plenty of time to get their own competing WM handsets out the door.
