Nothing still, what am I doing wrong?
I left Status info running in the background and took some pics. Copied the pics from the phone in mass storage and uploaded it as is.

at Location services > Settings > Assisted start: In all networks.
in camera mode: Settings > Add position > On.
that's how i got it set it.

Gah, it's really getting annoying now. Whilst in photoviewer, if I select 'show on map' it shows the pictures on the map, on the right place. But once copied of the phone the files have no GPS exif info. Would SE store it somewhere else inside the JPG because it must be in the files as I've reflashed the phone several times but kept the memoery stick in tact. Very annoying. Why can't they store the GPS details on a standard place other software can use too. Grrrr.

Alright, I found the GPS info, but it seems to be just cell info? I mean wtf, it has gps anyways I used a little (freeware) program to see every single bit of information embedded into a jpg.
When using the tool to browse the contacts of the jpg, there's a tab called "Markers" which has 2 tabs both called APP1, the last one of those has a text field with some "cell/1.0" specification, when I googled on that I found this post:

Currently they use XMP for image metadata, they store geo-tagging-info (cell info) and they use EXIF for gps-info.
So I guess the real GPS info is somewhere else, but for sure not in the EXIF part, maybe its a bug and it just stores the cell info for now, I don't know.

The photo tranced (http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/viewphotos.php?pid=17952) linked to earlier in this thread does have a proper EXIF GPS IFD part when opened in photostudio... very confusing indeed. Might try the camdrivers and/or firmware you took that photo with tranced. I'm on a mission to get geotagging to work properly now 
The photo EXIF info says its taken with R3EA031, the photo also lacks any storage of cell info. Would SE store cell info only if the GPS fix was not good enough? And is the camera's application GPS sensitivity very high? I wish they had some documentation on this. I cant stand having a feature I cant use.
Just did some tests with R3EA031 and still only cell info is stored, even thought my GPS reception was 3 bars in the camera mode. Horrible! Why doesn't it just work?

I did one with my C905. I was in the car bored so I thought "hmm I wonder how geotagging works" so I took a photo of the rear vision mirror

I think I have the reason why its not working accuratley, some gpses record as S36°52'52.20" E174°38'06.17" others record as N36°52'52.20" W174°38'06.17" Etc. I think esato is confusing the S co-ordinates with N co-ordiates. It would have placed my photo right if the map was upside down
C905 records as S36°52'52.20" E174°38'06.17" Btw and the co ordiates I used for an example are not where that photo was taken

At least your phone adds the GPS EXIF info. Seems our C702 only add cell id info, and rarely the GPS EXIF info. I really wonder why. I've taken a bunch of photo's and am sure I had a GPS fix. Tried taking pictures with "Status info" running in the background, tried ones without, made ones with a-gps and ones without. And always made sure I had 2 or 3 bars of GPS reception.
Does the little red flag in camera application ever turn green on a GPS fix? Or is it always just red?

I just opened a case at SE support about this. Seems not only firmwares lack updated, this was in my auto reply:

Well on my C905 only when you have a proper gps lock is the data added. Using the cell tower info, the data is hidden away somewhere in the EXIF (I can tell because the phone has a little icon on geotagged images, yet only the ones when GPS was activated have the co-ordinates sitting there in the EXIF)

Yep, but how can you know for sure when the GPS fix is good enough? I've tried leaving the phone outside on my garden table for 10 mins then taking a photo. The GPS icon had 3 bars, but the flag on the globe icon was still red, does it change to green when it has a correct fix? I think it is a bug in the firmware of the C702 because all other GPS enabled applications work perfectly, except for the flipping camera application

Yay, a reply already, by the end of the week the "engineers" should reply, I really wonder if they take it seriously and will actually try to fix it. Lets hope so.

I got a reply from the "back office support team" who requested some more information and the images, so I sent them the requested stuff and now we wait.
Does anyone think SE will actually try and fix this and release an updated firmware so we have proper GPS EXIF fields? I for one would be amazed and it might even restore my faith in SE service/updates.

What exactly is the problem you are having? Mine seems to work ok and I am able to view the location of my images with great accuracy on google maps on the PC!?

There is no EXIF GPS field in any of the pictures me and others make. Just cell-id info even thought the GPS reception is perfect and all other GPS work fine. Maybe you can tell me what firmware you run, and upload a picture so I can check the EXIF and other fields. I have tried atleast 4 different firmwares and lots of things like a-gps on and off, running "Status info" in the background, etc, etc.. And I'm not alone so its not something I'm doing wrong, I wish it was that easy
