Oh ok. I will just clean the fastport of my phone using a pencil or alcohol. Because I don't know if WD-40 is available here in the Philippines. Maybe we have that on our markets here but I'm not really familiar. Thanks for the info guys! :)

go to a chemist and get "isopropyl alcohol" (NOT methylated spirits - it will eat the plastic). Also called "rubbing alcohol". It's ideal - it won't eat the plastic, it won't scratch or abrasive to the contacts, and it won't corrode circuit boards, and it evaporates leaviong no residue. Apply with a cotton bud.

You can even apply it safely to pcb's if you dismantle your phone and clean the pcb and all contacts (sometimes this can rejuvenate and old phone that doesn't work very well anymore)

I think what we all really need is a 'tip' to remove the fast port connector and replace it with a mini usb port... Just an impossible thought

Sure that wouldn't be a bad thing, but the fast port is okay if you keep it clean occasionally. There are some advantages, namely it's a more robust connector than a usb mini port for a headset connector, so if was a choice between usb mini and no 3.5mm, or fastport, then I'd go fast port.

@jnodcam: Oh ok. I'll try to look for one in SM Megamall. Hehehe I'm having some problems with my phone's fastport right now. The dirt is really causing problems on charging and connecting to the computer.

It's true that WD-40 contains a lubricant component, and of course, it gets greasy if used in excess. Also, there are other types of products that are more dedicated for pure contact cleaning, WD-40 is more like an allround spray. However, the good thing with WD-40, or CRC 5-56, or any other similar product, is that they are not electrically conductive, but has a cleaning and grease resolving effect, and the oily component will reject water and moist from ruining the connection, thus making the electrical contact between the socket and the plug better.

I tried using a toothbrush and it removed the colored-green dirt. But after a few days, thd colored-green dirty thingy went back and then it started creating rust which causes problems when charging and using the headset to listen music. Sometimes only one earpiece works.
If you had green colored dirt, that means you got the phone wet. It's not the issue of the toothbrush you used.
