Will there be the same sh*tty problems with copying MP3's _FROM_ the MS Duo with Magicgate as it is/was with the Sony Walkman that uses MS with Magicgate? Or was that PC software related?

I remember a buddy of mine, who was only able to copy TO the stick, and delete from the stick.. There was no way of copying from the MS with Magicgate.. You got an error, saying something about the possibility of spreading music without the proper copyright or something like that..

Bad Sony! Bad!

HAHAHAHA Welcome to the world of copyright protection!

ALL MagicGate sticks have this function.

I will never buy a MagicGate stick for this reason...unless the stick is dirt cheap compared to the regular counterpart.

MagicGate is a SONY technology that prevents unauthorized copying of copy-protected content to and from digital devices.

Ex: MP3 located on PC, transferred to MagicGate Memstick...

you can transfer the song BACK to the PC it came from...

but NOT to another PC or any other digital device.

Why the hell do they bring out gear like this and put shitty memory in it? The HPM-10 is a great MP3 player but 32MB is shit, I had to buy a 128MB MMC to get a decent amount of music on it. And as for the P800 with its 12MB+16MB MS duo, that is well crap, surely they must know that for a frigging £500 phone aimed at hi-tech and business users, 28MB ain't gonna cut it? And it's got the music player built in for f**k's sake, obviously 28MB ain't gonna be anywhere near enough. Unless the P800 has some magic music conversion software that doesn't require about 1MB per minute of music to get a decent sound - any one know?
