Cant the walkman player 3 be installed in g900? The home screen of g900 is gr8 and easy to use. Plus there is a dpad which is anyday better for navigation and gaming. The default media app is better than p1/w960 for pictures and videos. The camera menu is also much better in g900 as the one in w960 is no way that finger friendly. So, if qwerty keyboard and big screen is not that important than go for g900 else p1 as its much better than w960. |

The G900 is a mainstream consumer device. I'd say the P1i is the business phone, thanks to its QWERTY keypad.

I have a w960 and love it but if you don't mind the smaller screen I think you should get the g900 for it's speed. |

Hi G900 users
i just bought a G900
was extremely surprised n shocked to realised it doesnt have this function
(other than # silent n flight mode)
just call SE to ask where is the profile function hidding
was told there isnt any profile function in SE symbian
to me, profile is kind of a very basic function
im a heavy profile switching user
**does anyone know where to download compatible profile for G900?
cheers n a merry x'mas

In the context of your question, WLAN and WiFi are the same thing. Both phones operate on 802.11b if I'm not mistaken.

W960i is more than a Walkman, itīs a business phone with WLAN too.

Guess it depends on your definition of a business phone. For me a business phone has no or very little play features and focusses on productivity and business features. Such as a business card scanner, qwerty keyboard. When the focus is shifted towards playing music and doing fun things with a phone it is no longer a business phone in my eyes.
A walkman phone can never be a business phone as much as a P1i can never be a walkman phone (even with mods it will always be a full qwerty keyboard yielding phone).
To me it depends on where the phone has its focus on; taking pictures, listening to music, being productive. That is what for me decides if what type of phone it is.

Yes, you are, g900 has wlan 802.11b/g while the other uiq phones comes only with b.

In g900 there is a business card scanner and qwerty keyboard doesn't mean something is made for business, it can be there for messaging too. In your definition, isn't nokia e51 a business phone cuz it lacks qwerty keyboard?

It is wrong, you have symbian to personalize your phone to be business or walkman or gaming or whatever you want.

But you can never change the hardware, guess you did not get my point about how a product is marketed and focusses on. A walkman phone (hence the name) does not focus on business/productivity, it focusses on music. A cybershot phone does not focusses on music but on images. This is why there are many models targeted at different groups of people. Of course one can modify their phones, there is only a very small number of people that will actually do it.
To simply state that its wrong is not cutting the cake. I've not said the phone was made for business and I've not said a qwerty keyboard equals business or the lack of it equals non-business. I've said it was being focussed on it, or targeted at. There is a big difference there. In the end is is all about marketing and what target groups SE aims at.
Sure you can use your W960 as "business" phone simply because it has the same guts as the P1i, just like you can flash the P1i with the W960 firmware, but that was not the point I'm trying to make.
The Gxxx phones are being targeted at trendy/fashion people, whilst the W960/W950 are being targeted at music minded people and the P1i to business people, that is not how I want it to be, that is how SE markets the phone. Just have a look at the Gxxx/W9x0/P1i pages on SE's homepage and you will see how they aim.
Anyways, to debate about this here is futile in its own respect. You can try to understand what I'm trying to say, or simply be defensive, that is up to you. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad or attacking anyone and their phone, I was only giving my opinion with (imho, good) arguments.
Long story short I would go for the G900.

Not quite. The has a jog dial on the side which makes for superfast scrolling and navigation, although going back up is a pain in the ar*e, thanks to some stupid bloke in upper management at . However, if you haven't used a Pxxx/W950 UIQ phone before, the D-pad on the G900 would seem equally comfortable.
The walkman standby screen looks nice too.
All said though, the G900 wins in a price/feature shootout. |
