i think that ericsson will improve thier mobile phones with sony powerfull technology.... its clear that sony have very powerfull tech in display devices , computers " i.e. the powerfull vaivo laptops " & sound systems......in the otherhand ericsson was a regular mobile phone company and it was in a very week postion infront of the nokia mobile phones....
But now after their very sucssefull marriage they produce the best mobile phone now " P 800 " which u can feel the sony touch on that phone.....
For me SE well be the best mobile phones in the world after a very short period

Hi there...
I think you will find that its Sony that will pull out. If Sony are such a rich company, they haven't got that money by holding onto failing companies. Most people here seem to be Pro-Ericsson. I'm neutral enough to remember that there have been some very gloomy outlooks in news stories about Ericsson's finances and future sucess.
This is backed up by a chance meeting with one of the product designers for Vertu, and his friend who writes 3G applications, who told me things along the same lines.
I hope that SonyEricsson stay a good company, as compared to most other phones on the market, the P800 is quite a leap in phone technology... so lets hope there is more to come from the SonyEricsson stable.
-funkyberry-
p.s. is it EricssonSony, or SonyEricsson?

DSF, 320 was too big, t66 had so many problems with signal and battery, t65 froze too often and one could not remove the battery! For us gadgetfreaks, the T39 was excellent but for the hundreds of millions of ordinary users it was slooow, especially with sms, had an unwanted flip and antenna, and most of those potential buyers ended up buying a f*****g 3310! How can one pay-off past debts under such circumstances?:-(

From what I read the financial situation is still bad. The t200 is almost an r600, the t600 is almost a t66, and 99 percent of the people think that the t300 is very ugly! And the superb t68i, still advanced, is ageing; gracefully, but still ageing! I'd love to see them come up with something commercial, that will make everybody drool, really soon!

My point of view.... (if anyone is still interested),
Ericsson makes all the great phones. Just look at the history:
Ericsson had LOTS of phones.
The P800 was a color version of the R380, and was due last year, BUT then Sony came along, and they both wanted the 'intergration' of memory sticks and so on... (which was a GOOOOD idea).
Sony had only 7 phones before they started to team up, and not the better looking.
The CMD-Z700 (the SE color followup of the CMD-Z7) was canceled, because it looked ugly (i guess ).
What i hope is that Sony will now let it's maketing team loose on SE, this is the ONE thing (besides money) that Sony is good for! Just look at the PlayStation, ugly no good machine, BUT the #1 in the bussines.
The only difference is that SE makes GREAT stuff so the marketing should not be to hard....
Oh, and btw, the T300 lookes a full 100% WOW! Just not on the images on the ALSO GREAT website (!) Nokia, Samsung eat your hart out!
This is my opinion, and a drunkman never lies!

as big as Sony are, their mobile division was failing just as badly as Ericsson's before the merger. Looking at their own models, it's not hard to see why- and whose technology have they been building on since? Ericsson's. All the "new" phones (including the P800) have been developed from existing Ericsson designs.
I was a big fan of both company's products before the merger (with the exception of sony's mobiles) and I had high hopes that good stuff would come out of it; but since the technology itself has hardly changed, the only difference I can notice is the new naff and directionless styling. The T300 is bland, and the only improvement in the T68i was it's firmware- the elegant lines of the T68m beat it's baby blue blank face hands down.
I could forgive Sony if the marketing was up to scratch- a la playstation, as someone mentioned- but it isn't. To the bloke in the street, SonyEricsson is even more of a mystery than Ericsson were, and they carry on buying Nokia's as if nobody else ever made a phone.
The sad thing is, if this merger does fail, Ericsson will just pull out of the handset market altogether and concentrate on their core (network) business. Whether Sony carry on is up to them, but i doubt they'll come up with anything interesting without Ericsson- they never did before. |

You are right about the way Nokia sells... but that is because if you (or I) walk into a phone shop and ask for a phone, the first thing they will answer is: "The new Nokia.. blahblahperfectforyouneedsblah.... anything else?". That's horrible, and why?? i am COMPLETELY clueless, because Nokia has not made ANY good phone in the last year. |

I think that-at their time-the Sony CMD-Z1 and particularly the Z5 were excellent! When the innovative and qualitative Z5 was launched, Ericsson's flagship model was the T28 and Nokia's was the 8210, both with severe quality problems!

plyon, granted, but this is marketing in itself. if nokia have the retail market sewn up (through commission, or whatever else- i don't know how it works) then sony need to weigh in and fight back. they've got the muscle to do that, and i thought that was the plan, but apparently not.. |

haki, it's true ericsson have had quality problems in the past (although the t28 was a fantastic phone when it worked, i was lucky with mine) but the truth is most mobile manafacturers have had similar problems from time to time- including SonyEricsson. Nokia have a huge failure rate, and a number of pretty shonky phones under their belt, but yet they prosper while SE have floundered over the past year. Why? |
