Improvements over R2E? Many:
- with R5C or later you can use the MMS Home Studio from SonyEricsson to compose a MMS template from a PC
- you can add new words to the T9's dictionary (R2e had a bug and when the memory for user's words was full you couldn't add any new one)
- menus and T9 typing are slighty faster
- you can send MMS to any unsaved number in your call list
- better Bluetooth compatibility
- ..and much more, but I don't remember anymore right now

Why do they use these version numbers with such a few changes? From R5D007 to R6A012 and now they will probably release R7A. With only a few changes R5E / R5F would make more sense?!

The wap on my T68i seems to be very poor compared to what it was like on my 3510. I can't even access Hotmail as it says body recieved is too large. Would upgrading the software improve this, as i only have version R2E?

How do you acces hotmail with your phone?
It's probably some settings you have made. coz I seriously doubt the 3510(being a higly unproffesional phone) is better at anything that has to do with wap...
But please do tell me how to acces hotmail with my phone.. |

What's so important about the sms signal.
Besides. look at the bright side. Since the tone is so ugly. no other phone maker will use it so everyone knows you have a kickass phone(Sony ericsson) and not some punkass piece of thrash(nokia) phone.
Let the mindless masses(nokia owners) keep changing their sms alert in a pathetic attempt to hide their mediocrity from succumbing to the herd mentality of todays general weak minded population.
But since only SE phones has that annoying(yet unique) sound when receiving data messages. They try in vain.
I pity them... I truly do.
So feel proud when your phone makes that ugly noise.
Know that you are better than the others.
In fact. I think SE does it on purpose to keep fools who look upon a nice message sound as criteria for purchasing a phone from Ruining their reputation.

Hey,hang on a minute.
I compose my own tones so if i want to use one of them for my sms alert should'nt i be allowed to have the option to make a unique sms alert of my own,I THINK SO!

By the way, Sony Ericsson T600 can change the SMS alert to diffrent tones. So, they know that this is a good option but they cannot do it in our T68i firmware. SE technical Support said, in old inquiry, that this option is hardware issue. |

Thats odd, because my T68m had a completely different tone before I upgraded it to \"i\"...

You go on to mobile msn's wappage. The wap on the t68i isn't as good as the 3510's, apart from it is in colour, so many pages seem to fail to load. The settings where the same on the nokia as they are on the sony as i copyed them, and it is the same sim card so it can't be that or the network that is the problem.

Hi, I've just got back from my local SE service center UK & they flashed my phone with R7A005!
Is this still a test version?
I hope not, because I dont want my t68i to be fried within a few weeks
Atleast it solved my problem of the data wap stting being deleted everytime I restart the phone

Could you find any new features?
@Cytech
Could you confirm that R7A005 is available on the EMMA II server?

rogervdh,
R7A005 is listed at R7ATEST on EMMA2. But, it's only available for a very limited number of phones. The firmware seems to be available for phones that are not provisioned by a wireless carrier, but direct from the SE factory.
There are two versions, EU and US.
So, I don't really see any difference from R6A012 except that it scrolls thru the menus slightly faster. R6A012 was pretty fast as is. Some others have reported better reception and BT range, but I cannot confirm this as my phone loaded with R7A005 seems to be the same as R6A012 with my Jabra BT200.
