Well I've always thought this was the most likely cause of auto restarts, but it could also be due to some threshold for system errors being exceeded, or just a general lack of system resources, be it on the graphics chip, memory, or main processor.
@elidoperezmd
do you have anything running in background that could be causing a memory leak, or taking up a lot of processor cycles?
What size of email are you tring to download?

this has been around since the P800 when we had many threads discussing the infamous yellow triangle with exclamation mark prompting you to press and hold the power buttong for 10 seconds after which it restarted "for performance reasons"
I did get this alot more on my P990 than I ever did on my M600 but I almost never saw it on my P1

I don't recall having a "restart to improve performance" on my P990 with R6E28. I'm using SMP with level 3 reclaim.
If these restarts are happening often on your P1, I suggest you install Swiss Manager Pro, register it and use it for level 3 memory reclaim. The memory management is certainly much better than the OS.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

I'd try reflashing the phone, as it seems it's the download routine in the firmware that's causing somekind of system error. I guess this has the same affect that a critical error has in winXP - the default reaction is to reboot the system. Looks to me like your firmware has become corrupted somehow. |

I tried the same on my P990i but it was messing with alarms. I was late for work a couple of times before realising what made the alarms not to go off.

Apart from trying a different USB port, deleting the contents uf SEUS's 'db' folder before repeating the update (this will make it download a new copy of the firmware), I have no suggestions, apart from taking it to service, as it could well be a hardware fault in the memory. I guess the more exhaustive your own experiments, the better the argument for getting it fixed/replaced by SE.
