@ arien617:
Yeah mate, it's OTT power to weight ratio certainly appeals.
The latest (K7 and K8) models push out a claimed 185 bhp. Wonderful, ballistic excess... gotta love it, LOL.

I do not know if they still sell them but Gilera Runner or Piaggio NRG are great scooters. Had one, driven loads of them and Piaggio/Gilera are far best. Also Yamaha Aerox. I didn't look for them for quite some time.. Sadly now are 4stroke, right? Whatever you choose, 1st rule is a helmet, 2nd is do not tune it, trust me. There is no end to it. I have also fallen for atleast 20 times from mine... And drive for everyone, not only for yourself, if you get my point..

@danny

I meant a 50cc bike yes, of course you can ride these at 16.

Everyone says wait and get a car, but if you can afford it get a bike first. If you go with a decent insurer you will have a years no claims to go towards your car insurance. My friend did this and had a 1.6 turbo Golf for a first car, until it was written off after 5 days (not his fault) so he got a 1.6 Astra sport and still paid less than £1500 insurance. All because he HAD a bike at 16!

Of course they are more dangerous, and many many accidents on bikes aren't the rider's fault. However if you act sensibly (who does at 16? ) at least enough to know your own limits there are no problems! Just make sure it is well maintained and you are visible to other road users and adapt your riding to weather conditions.

I had my first motorbike at 15 (15 years ago ). It was a H reg Honda MT50. Great little bike and never let me down. Had bikes until I was 19 and then went onto getting my car licence.
Best of all. I was exempt from doing the theory test because I'd already got my full motorbike licence
3rd party insurance as a learner on the MT50 was just £420 so wasn't too bad.
I tried sniffing coke once but didnt like it. The bubbles kept going up my nose

Get a Piaggio, gilera or aprillia ped mate. I would say a gilera runner as they are comfortable and when derestricted they will do about 45mph.

Also they use piaggio(they are the same company as piaggio) engines which are really easy to tune so if you add a sports exhaust and a 70cc kit, you can reach about 60mph real speed.

Have a look at the forums on http://www.scootershack.co.uk. there is a lot of moped owners on there.

£1000+ to look like a chavvy tit? Can't you just wear burberry and argos-jewelery instead?
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.

@the one that said cool but stupid, get a 9999mph bike, and then run it on full speed on a bridge...You're sure to reach the sun or the moon depending whether it'd day or night, though going to the sun would cost too much time..

Ok Narrowed it down to a scooter now. Bikes would be too impractical at the moment and there turnin out more expensive than the scooters which i am on a tight budget so every little helps etc.

Its Either between
Peugeot Jetforce
Aprilla SR50
Gilerra Runner
Peugeot Speedfight

Gilera Runner, please. Sweet sc. Very driveable... I had ac Gilera Stalker that did 120km/h. Believe it or not. So, Gilera...

Malossi and Polini are the houses for the tuning parts, but I wouldn't recommend it. I had crankshaft replaced, along with racing bearings, variator, 1st set of gears, belt, carburator DellOrto 21mm, Polini Racing kit, racing clutch, racing brake pads, Arrow exhaust.... Trust me, there is no end to it...

BTW, it pissed on tuned SR50
