I think Ranjith has hit the nail on the head. How any "celebrity" can justify getting paid millions of pounds per year for what they actually do is beyond me. Hard work? Long hours? Yeah, right.

Although I would also argue that their place in the public spotlight is more valuable than their money when it comes to helping poorer countries. Let's face it; you give money to charity, the charity takes half of it and the other half goes to the country's government which then either keeps it for themselves or spends it on weapons. Anything other than helping people, put it that way.

Bono, Sting etc. may be complete pains in the butt these days with their charity work but at least they are trying to use their position to spread awareness of the real causes of poverty and get governments to do something about it.

Slight flaw in this cyco....

if your shooting a film, a day can go on for 18-19-20 hours, once a set has been set uop or you've shut New York down, you get one shot at doing your scene, can take an age

Yes, but do they do it six days a week for 48 weeks per year like, say, a junior doctor or trainee nurse?

That's what I mean by long hours!

Its their money, they can do whatever the heck they want with it. How often do you give to the poor, and how much? I don't really get this whole celebrity wasting money bull crap to be honest. 2000 pair of shoes is normal for a billionaire but wastage for an average joe.
Secondly, how can you be so sure she didn't give to a charity already? Just because it didn't make headlines doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I don't get what you mean by "wasting."

I mean, why is everyone complaining? If they are swimming in money, why not buy massive houses? Why not buy flashy cars? I think there is a degree of jellousy in this thread.

Muhammad-Oli, if you made 30 million a year, would'nt you buy huge mansions and fast cars? I sure would. And you have to remember, by purchasing these houses, they are also free from normal people who will bug them day in and day out.

Ranjith, overpaid? It actualy depends. Most people associate the rich, with people with all the girls, with mansions shaded by palm trees. Imagine, getting up at 1 o clock to do a shoot, filming day in and day out 24/7 sometimes for years for one movie. Imagine performing and performing, then doing it infront of millions of people. Imagine living a life 24'7 with constant crooks, and drugs. Most people forget all of this.

In my opinion "wasting" money is spending over your budget on things you don't need. If you actualy have all the money, then I don't actualy think wasting is much of an issue.

I mean whats the point of having all that money if your not gonna spend it? If that was the case, im almost certain this thread would of been named: "Celebs are to stingy!"

I think alot of you guys, dont see the behind the scenes of alot of these so called celeb lifes. Take a look a 2pac when his will was read out, he had nothing couple of hundreds in his bank account, the reason for this is that his manager at the time Suge Knight would rake it all in and give him an allowance buy him the cars etc, same thing simon is doing for Leona believe you me the shooting of two videos for both audiences though legitimate in its own sense has a sinister reason behind it.

The cost is actually deducted from any future earnings Leona will make and Reg pointed out Times Sq can be shut down for hours and thats big money, the $5mill house its all pretty much entrapment, they use it that when people like Leona decide damn I aint making a penny I need to get out, they left with one heavy bill.

You just need to read all the interviews of Girls Aloud and crew, so yes at the time it seems all unreal but when you washed up and cant make the music or pay the bills Mr Cowel comes and takes back his $5mill home which by that time will have gone up in value so really look at it as a loan its also used as a tax loophole for Simon.

The guys you really need to ranting too are well the Sony BMG etc, they are the ones that are cleverly just investing there money in tangible assets they know they not going to loose value in etc Diamonds, Houses list goes on.

But on a more realistic note, we look at celebs and think why dont they do anything they spend there money on this and that, but at the same time we do the same compare ourselves to someone in africa and think how much your k850 or n95 or macbook pro could feed these people.

Guess the old saying goes ye without sin cast the first stone. We all guilty £1Million Cars or £300 phones. I rest my case your honor.
