when am out and about i always take my Sony A100 (dslr) with me.... and now currys are selling it for £299 with the 18-70mm lens... battery is good for about 600 pics on a full charge and i've not found any issues with it yet!
Other than that i used fuji cams before the sony one and never had any issues with them!

If you have the money Sony N2 is good.
Otherwise try www.trustedreview.com as they have quite a few 12mp reviews. |

I once had years ago a very old Sony P93 5 mega pixel camera which took amazing photos. Now just a year ago i had a Panasonic 6 mega pixel FX01 and picture quality on the Panasonic was poor compared to the Sony which had one million pixels less. I have found Carl Ziess lenses to be very sharp. Even though i said Samsung cameras are good the ones with lithium batteries the cheap ones which take AA batteries are very poor for battery life. They barely last a few hours just like their mobile phones. Lol. I would say the average now is 6 mega pixel if you go high like 9 or 12 mega pixel but the camera is cheap then picture quality may suffer. I forgot to mention Fuji yesterday they are fantastic and their cameras are the best for low light photograpy. But anyway we still gotta look for cheap for you.

So u lot think I should hangon to my 6MP Casio Ex-Z60 then? Is there much difference between a 6 and 10MP anyway? |

There is only much difference between them if you want to print massive prints like poster size. I never notice the difference on a pc screen except perhaps when you zoom into see detail on the picture maybe. It really takes a trained eye to notice and im quite fussy im happy with my Sony N1 8 mega pixel but i still see no difference with the pictures it takes and a 6 mega pixel camera. Its obviously up to you perhaps save your money if your camera is still in good condition and working well hang onto it as its probably not worth wasting your money unless you really want it.

Kerry, it depends what you're going to do with the pics really, or what its for.
If it's holiday snaps or quick snaps out and about, of your friends etc, then hell your N95 8GB is fine for that, as is your current digital camera.
Unless you're a budding photographer and want to take stunning looking shots and like playing about with all the settings, then what you've got at the mo is fine.

James, previousley I bought a 3MP Casio Camera off Member Ofiach which was a lovely little thing, but when I went to Berlin end of 2006 I changed to a 6MP Camera lol
I use my camera for Hols, Pic's for here and there,
they do come in handy even if you don't use them that much there a Godsend to have anyway
I do understand where your all getting at though..
I paid £139.99 for my EX-Z60 back in 2006..
I needed it quick for Berlin ..
prices are very good today on them and if I can find something for under £100 then I may just grab it but im not in too much of a hurry

comming from someone who used to sell the silly things alday long, dont get another casio. they are really bad now. If you want something that takes good pictures look at sony cameras that start with w. eg w55.
dont worry about mega pixels. its only the size of the picture. for example my main camera is a 6mp fuji camera, which can knock the socks out of most lower/middle end cameras still. if you can find a fuji starting F eg f30, id look at them as well. they have large sensors so have a nice picture quality and are good at night time.

Hey! I've got a Casion Exilim S770 and it's bloomin' fantastic. I did plenty of research too and it met all my criteria, as well as taking some cracking shots. I mainly wanted one that was very small and fast, and it's both those plus the quality of the pics is pretty good by my standards

Digital cameras have a benchmark to meet, I guess when you buy the camera for 'fun' you're bound to get used to what it produces. Fuji's are really adjustable with manual settings, where as sony produce clear, smooth pictures on auto. Though you have to pay more for that badge.

True, but I needed one that was ultra slim and fast at starting/taking pictures, which this certainly is (start up and first picture with flash in about 3 to 4 seconds isn't bad lol).
I love it cause it slips into my trouser pocket nicely

Digital Camera Buyer magazine gave the Sony W80 5 stars for everything and its 7.2 mega pixel. It was 149 when it came out some months ago so should be cheap now. Comes in pink too. Lol. Recent reviews also gave the Casio S880 a test winner for picture quality its 8 mega pixels was 169 will be cheaper by now.
