Hi All,

My other post got locked so thought I would post info here.

Managed to get an OEM BST-40 battery and battery charger off ebay for a very reasonable £10!!!

It arrived this morning and fit the phone perfectly - wasnt as tight as some people warned but stopped the back panel squeeking too - absolute bonus!

I have charged the battery in the phone this morning and the battery indicator is still full after 5 hours and a few texts.

I will keep you posted on the results but i was very unhappy with the standard battery life - ruined a night out last week when it died on me and i couldnt find any of my friends. Seems impossible to use for 2 days in a row with moderate usage, hopefully this will solve my problem.

Cheers

Ok Update.

I have now had the phone switched on for 32hours since first charge with new BST-40 battery.

During this time I have made a couple of calls, sent about 10texts, 10/15mins of internet use and nearly 1 HOUR of Walkman. Ive also just configured ActiveSync/Push for last 2 hours.

THE BATTERY IS STILL MORE THAN HALF FULL. With the old battery this would have required a charge tonight but i might be able to get 2.5/3days use out of it - surely this is what the phone deserved in the first place SE.

I will continue to test but my advice so far is that i have noticed a big difference already.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

No the BST-40 battery works great - I got mine off eBay and it was an official one (item number 150252997558).

So far I would definately recommend.

Also stops the creeking on the battery cover and makes the phone feel stronger.

The desktop charger is not OEM - in fact I could have made it out of a cereal box and two bits of wire.

The battery looks 100% genuine, has the hologram on it and all the correct labelling?!

....and most importantly it works alot better than the last one

Check out the auction - it was sold as OEM too.

If it had the correct labelling, had the hologram and looked exactly like the real thing - how did you know it was a fake?

One thing i never buy from ebay is batteries. Even the fakes can come with the correct labeling and also the correct box. Only way to tell is how the print is done on the lettering. I always buy mine from places like Play.com which are usually £10 cheaper than the official SE website.I also use the official SE website to get them from.Much easier and such less hassle than ebay.

Wait a second. So how is it safe again? The W960i battery (BST-33) outputs 3.6v, and the P1i battery (BST-40) outputs 3.7v. P=V^2/R. If more voltage is being delivered to the circuit, wouldn't that increased the delivered power as well; thus, deteriorates the chips/semiconductor devices. Schottky semis, threshold voltage,...etc.

Beacause almost all phone batteries output 3.6v, including BST-33 and BST-40

I'm looking at the specs, and it says that the BST-40 outputs 3.7 volts.
