What a funny thread.
The award just proves that you don't need to have top notch specs to make a great product - its the overall package that counts.
The W910i deserves this win, well done.

i think it won, not because of its specs, like goldenface said, but because of its simplicity. Its erganomics are great, easy to use, comfortable keypad etc etc.

You and your negativism, out of this thread!
Of all the people, you really shouldnt say that. Have you seen the absolute trash remarks you make in the other manufacturers forum?
Again with the negativism!
And yeah, maybe I have made one or two inadequate comments but I tend to restrain myself as much as possible, in order not to do so. |

Well done SE! Again!
While I do not own this handset, I have wanted it since it was announced, but have been stuck with a P990. Can't quite make up my mind on whether to get it or the W960 - I am addicted to touchscreens now but my experience with the P990's implementation of UIQ3.x has left me wary of getting another UIQ3.x device! |

Smarthphones aside, I also think that W910 is the bestl non-smartphone launched last year. As far as music goes, it may not be the best but it's still good. The best phone of the year award looks at the overall phone and not just one or two of it's aspects.
W910 deserved it. |

And did they have reason to vote 6500 Classic instead? Poor you, QVGA! |

i do not own a w910 but i have used and played a w910 unit of my workmate.
its a joy to use. simplicity meets style. and i liked it
the sound is quality and so is one of the better quality out there
minus the fixed focus camera, i could have chosen this as my new phone.
congrats !
among the nominees, w910 is the hands down winner |

Argh, you still don't get it, do you? it's about the whole "phone" experience. Not the most feature-packed phone.
The phone has to be affordable, elegant and must have the basic features a modern phone should.

i agree with you mate. hence the title, "BEST handset" meaning the overall technical, aesthetic and practical merits of the phones in contention were evaluated. and w910 is the BEST among all the other nominees
the specs of the phone in paper must equate to a good user experience in reality. and judges feel that w910 was the BEST among the rest of the nominees in translating those specs into a good mobile experience
