on my dead body i would pay 4000..lol..thats not even possible..
if its at 4000 which i really doubt, i will have to wait till it drops to 2000 ..
they wouldnt do that really, otherwise they will lose more sales to Nokia when people see the 4000 AED price tag on it. I dont really think they want to kill their chances cause this is holidays season. If they r dumb enough, they will sell it for 4000 AED |

You ought to get ur facts right I came to dubai 4 days ago, and went to the service centre which is behind the Kia motors showroom, to update my software and get the screen cleaned(as there aren't any Srv ctrs in my area in UK that I know of). When I went back the next day to collect my T68, I asked him abt the P800. He told me that it is already out, and is selling in city centre for abt 2500-2600. He added that the ones selling there are sold unofficially, and there is no guarantee. The official ones are coming out after christmas, but before the new year, and the expected price is between 2000-2250. I though...what the hell, I can wait for 2 weeks!! So I went home and came onto esato!
So I suggest everyone to wait for 2 weeks and get it cheap. If u cant wait, goto city centre and get it off there(a bit expensive). Check with radioshack on level 1 and 2 and with the shops next to radioshack on level 1 and 2 as well. cheers!
I'm member #100 on this website. I think! |

I actually believe that the 'official' price upon first shipment will be jacked. A lot
This is very common here in the U.A.E. There's a lot of filthy rich Arabs around here that have nothing else to do in their lives but to spend any amount of money on -anything- that is 'in', fashionable or simply because 'his friend' got it too. They'll buy P800 as it will be the most expensive phone on the shelf and not for any other reason.
Then they'll use it for a week and after chuck it in the corner because it's 'too complicated' to use and because it's not a Nokia.
These are not the people who come to worship P800 on Esato and similar forums, I assure you.
And U.A.E. salesmen are not stupid....

This is truly right! Because I saw those P800 units. And I noticed that is is not supplied with the CD-ROM, they might be some....prepoduction units!!!!!
Damn it. I wish it shows up pretty soon, coz I might leave the UAE back to my country...

Called the usual suppliers today - nobody knows anything...not even roughly. It's really funny. Wasn't UAE one of the selected lucky countries?
This wait is becoming unbearable and totally pathetic.

Rana from SE wouldn't tell me the price of P800...can you believe that? It's out in less than a week and it's still a secret.
That proves what we discussed before - the distributors have most likely gotten the freedom to ask for whatever price they please.

Funny - in Italy the confirmed date for a big wave of P800s is 24th as well. Conspiracy theory?
First owners of the commercial P800 in Italy and Sweden report that the first version of the firmware (R1B, commercial) is by far the most stable one of any Ericsson phone released so far.
Very promissing considering how complex this gadget is.
Apparently the lack of JAVA support in HTML browsing will be easily resolved by a 3rd party app which should be out before everyone gets their P800.
