The flash problem is a known one and so is the lens-cover-not-opening one.
It'll surely be fixed in the next firmware update.

Try using red-eye reduction flash.

Oh, and software slowdowns are always fixed with firmware updates.
You have nothing to worry about.

You are right, i've got nothing to worry about.

I let this POS phone go faster than a hot potato. Back on the W910 now.

I love SE, but so far the K850 is crap.

I love this phone, but the software is poor. But it will get fixed, just like it always does. For me, there are no alternatives to SE, so I'm happy to put up with it. [addsig]

I thought it was the way I was holding the phone too - but not so. Don't kid yourself into thinking it's your fingers in front of the light sensor. I've been keeping my digits WELL away from the entire horizontal plane that is the front part of the camera, and I've still had dodgy dark autoflash shots. Kudos to those of you that don't have flash problems with this handset - you're the lucky ones.

I've always stood by SE updates (had enough on the k800i!!) but something tells me a simple firmware upgrade won't get this issue sorted this side of Christmas. Hope I'm wrong on this one!

I have my K850i for 8 days now. No bugs except that volume can't be changed after previewing picture while the music is playing. Menu is fast no autorestarts or things like that.
My phone sometimes took dark low-light pictures and I thought its the flash problem. Then I noticed that sometimes I hold the phone how I held my K750i and that way covering the sensor that ajusts the flash/shutter system. Since then I'm always holding the phone on the right way and I always get perfect shots in all light conditions.

Don't be too sure SE is listening and doing something about it. Based from my experience with the P990 (also a flagship phone I might emphasize), they just sat on their arses and ended our firmware updates while an endless list of bugs remain, and even had the cheek to deny it had serious memory issues. I just want to say don't get your hopes too high, you might get really disappointed

Who knows... all I know is the K850 is a liability at the moment. My 1st one crashed a lot and now my 2nd one does too... along with an inability to set any appointments in the calendar.

make sure your finger isn't blocking the little sensor near the flash...

I think Plankgatan said that a firmware update for K850i will be available in about 2 weeks.

Actually se has a new firmware (R1CA037) but it is currently only being used internally by se. Maybe if you live near a service center they will update for you. I have only head that it fixes the flash syc. problem and speeds up the UI.

Otherwise we are all waiting for the online release which I hope will be soon.

Roll on 2 weeks! Man, that will make a very merry xmas. Being able to take photos that you can actually see!

...Mind you, my flash issue is probaby user related. But hey, we are all a little retarded in some way.
