I am still amazed that basically the same hardware as my old 910 has been pushed into so many other phones - i mean that basic hardware design must be 10 years old now, anyone out there using a 10 year old pc? or 10 year old version of windows? (win95 anyone?) |

Hehe, true... on the other hand amazing that that hardware still works acceptable. I mean, sure as hell could be faster but S60 ain't too speedy either. But yeah, still a lot of room for improvements. |

the N81 has a higher capacity battery (1050mah) than W960 (950mah) so they maybe on par since the N81 will be more power hungry.

That's weird, because P1i's battery is 1120mAh. So the battery of the P1i would be better than W960's? |

Yes, P1 has the better battery.
I have no idea why SE did that, maybe to save space in W960.

i think it is very neccessary for se to read m-r review and improve them otherwise they will lost there market!!1why they wan to stick with only w or k they can add much more things.
we must write a open letter to se that if westomers) can think like this then why not officers in se?why cant they see other companies moibles?
i m waiting since 2 yrs for high end phone and still se has reached upto w960 where other big companies r much more ahead!!!!!!!!! pls let us write a letter to ceo of se atleast about our expectations ,wha we want from se, pls |

When Eldar (p)reviewed the P1 he said it would have the exact same battery he says the W960 will have (the same of the P990)
My guess is the retail W960 will bring the same battery of the retail P1, not the one on Eldar preview model |

@GUCCI,thanks for stating the differences...i wouldn't mind comparing them,but the problem is how are we going to do that 'cos i think you just swayed my mind towards the n81.well it seems to be the better choice.

I seriously doubt that Motorola are going to use anything other than UIQ which really isn't from SE, it is a UI not hardware. SE may have owned UIQ but now Motorola are joint owners with them. Also Motorola are already using the OMAP2420 as used by NOKIA in some of their N series devices which is a much more powerful processor, currently the most powerful used in a Symbian smart phone.
@Nipsen
I really can't see how you can say it will have better sound as the N81 has a dedicated DSP chip and a 3.5mm jack, and we have all read the numerous complaints on this Forum about low volume on Walkman phones especially the Symbian ones. As for cut and pasting er it's a Music and gaming smart phone not a business smartphone.
Also it's a bit much to expect it launch with out a few problems, well two things firstly i agree unfortunately that is very true, but Nokia release firmware updates that actually fix things and fast.
I would also say SE are worse just look at P1 and now the K850 as they are far from perfect so i would say you can expect the same or more problems with the W960 that will also take longer for the firmware to arrive as well.
I don't think it is right THAT any MANFCATUER release devices with bugs but due to consumer apathy they continue to do so and until we the consumers show them this is unacceptable they will of course continue.

I think I'll take the last judge about W960i when I hold it in my hands and compare it with P1i in the same time before I buy one of them...
I remember one of our members had a look at W960i and he liked the phone very well, so I think it's just a taste of user experience...

I mean, I'm HOPING that the hardware used in the Z8 is also part developed with SE and will make its way into a new SE P series device, simply because I really don't think SE have done a significant amount of r&d with the p series for 10 years! Even then it was good old Ericsson (now THAT was a company that knew how to innovate) who actually did all the r&d.
SE NEED to innovate in the way Ericsson did - and Nokia have done - or they will simply sink. |

Lol @ Gola
exactly! Why spend so much on W960 if it doesnt offer as much as N81 which I Bet will be slightly cheaper! And the fact that the N81 was announced after W960 YET the N81 is ALREADY being shipped,even N95-8GB began shipping last week!
I can see the W960 being a good phone but being a bit of a disaster in the long run.

@QVGA
Well coming from you, I was sure it would be something negative but on the other hand, thanks for sharing. Haha...what a great review, I can't be happier. It's exactly what SE needs to hear since they NEVER listen to the people who put their bread on their table- US! And the best part is, they'd rather pay a 3rd party company for feedbacks rather than listen to our much more comprehensive input for free. I'm a P990 owner so trust me I know how it feels like to be completely ignored. And who better to give them the good ol' kick in the balls than a mobile reviewer. I doubt anyone has anymore reasons or capacity to defend SE's pitiful portfolio now and I sure don't see any objections in this thread, probably because we all realize the amount of truth it contains. I never thought I'd say this but I've been window shopping for a new device and some Samsung models have made my jaw drop. Time and tide waits for no man.

Well the Z8 was released before Moto bought half of UIQ but i seriously doubt that Moto and SE will share anything than UIQ development and especially not hardware.
