Cyco is right, its mega expensive. Driving, taxes, cost of living, property, Dental care it all adds up to a hefty sum.

This is how bad the UK is. I live in a small one bed flat, I pay £25 a month service charge, £360 mortgage p/m and £79 p/m on council tax (and its the lowest band) My council tax is MORE than my service charge!
UK is ridiculous. If I had a choice I'd be living in Greece. I love it over there.
Mmm Greece sounds good!

@offliner:
a lot of things are indeed needed to be weighed-in. consider all the pros and cons, and in the end... do whatever that will make you happy. go for it (them). goodluck, mate!

So you all say it is to expensive to live in UK.
How much you should be earning in order to live in London? I know this a big scale. Let's say you have a car(max 5 years old). You go out nights twice a week.

Depending on where you live, you would need to earn about £20k at least to have a decent lifestyle, I reckon.

I a have 3 bed semi @ national average price, just outside London.
£950 p/m mortgage
£136 p/m council tax
£100 p/m for travel
And then you got all the other expenses, for me around £500 p/m (although not all are necessary to live here). That’s just to live here without spending any on my own luxuries. Totals around: £1700 p/m to live here in the UK (for me).
I’d stay put or go somewhere else, besides the UK’s to full as it is.

So £2000 p/m is the amount that you should earn if you want to feel like you are living in London.
Isn't that expensive =)

I think anyone willing to go live abroad should better learn about the laws in that country they want to move to. That would make it a lot easier for the transition period to pass without problems. |

@Kingbooker
That would be high up on my list of places to go too. Sacramento, LA, San Francisco? Sunshine? Surfing? The Pacific ocean? **sigh!**

I'd say, if you're prepared to make the leap, go for it. There's nothing worse than never taking a risk - I'm sure you've thought about it carefully and because you say that you've already convinced yourself into it, you'll already know what's to come.
And if it doesn't work out, you're always able to go back
@goldenface
Come to Melbourne - best place on earth!
