The camera shots I've taken in my house tonight in darkish light are a little fuzzy to be honest. I'm sure a play with the camera will reveal better pictures, but it was a little dissapointing.

The audio recording is annoying. I had audio recording set on a shortcut key as I did on my K800i, however unlike the K800i the K850i doesn't recognise when I move press the left direction during a call and means I have to sift through menus to record calls. To add a further annoyance to this I can confirm that recording during calls has an audioable beep every 20 seconds which you and the caller can both here and which is also present on the audio file it creates. Probably not a bug, seems more like an intended 'feature' to be honest but it does seem a major annoying for me.

that beep is normal, its used since ages cos of personal reasons, cos the one who u talk with, has to be sure, if the conversations is recorded. otherwise its not fair and legal

Of course it isn't perfect - good enough maybe, perfect - never. My point is - people in here bought the k850i expecting it to work as it should, after they 'upgrade' the firmware. W T F No wonder SE's profits are going downhill. It looks like with SE all what is going up are the customer expectations.

I don't had a K850 nor N73 but judging by the sample videos provided by GSMArena and M-R, i can safely say that K850 beats N73 in video quality - smoother than those N73 videos since N73 is capable of recording 15Fps CIF while K850 is @ 30fps QVGA

If the CMOS sensor isn't good enough then no amount of software tweaking will improve things. I hope this isn't the case!

Also, I do feel that SE is getting a little arrogant - rather like Nokia did a few years back when they thought they could release handsets with stupid keypad designs and limited features (in order to expand their portfolio). SE started with handsets that did everything, and now it's all about dividing things up - for Walkman, Cyber-shot etc. The K850i and W910i are identical really, but with certain features disabled to differentiate the two brands.

You can live with that, but releasing kit with sub-standard firmware, and questionable designs and build quality, and you do have to wonder if SE might shoot themselves in the foot if they're not careful. SE gained a load of market share when Nokia was going a little crazy, but now Nokia is back on track. SE can't afford to lose what they've achieved in the last five years.

...............I really hope that SE open their "eyes" and "ears", listen to what the public want and workout their things on that direction!!. Anyway, I will always stick to SE's fone.

'SE can't afford to lose what they've achieved in the last five years' - Are you sarcastic or what? After joining hands Sony and Ericsson 'gave' SE around 7% market share to start with. Today SE has just below 9.5% - which gives them a GRAND TOTAL of 2.5% achieved over 5 years Mind you, actually it could have been worse - looking at Motorola -. Over the same period Nokia increased by 7% extending their lead even more. Do you still recall 5 years ago - SE was trumpeted on the cell scene as a NOKIA challenger. Now everyone is dead quiet. Watch tomorrow for Nokia's market results. For the sake of competition and us all I hope they are not good. If Nokia aproaches that magic 50% market share, they will call the shots and 'the others' have to follow and pay licence fees even for a poep. Sounds familiar with history repeating itself.

SE has gained a lot of market share in many markets, and it's the entry level/emerging market side that has stopped them gaining on Nokia. The fact is, last Christmas, SE outsold Nokia in the UK. That isn't a sign of failure is it?

I don't think most of the people on here are that bothered about the entry level models, so that would mean that from a forum point of view SE is leading the way.

HOWEVER, Nokia has realised this and is fighting back. They're pushing imaging and music, with or without big brand names like Cyber-shot and Walkman. The N95 was hugely let down by the battery, but they've addressed this with the N95 8GB. And of course they've got other stuff coming - both Series 40 and 60 (and S60 Touch announced yesterday).

Sony Ericsson will undoubtedly know about all the problems with the K850i and you can bet your life that there will be a revised model in the new year. Just you wait and see. The really need to step up their game next year.

firmware is all we'll see in the new year, not a new model.

The w800i had the worst firmware previously to the k850i, and that phone survived. It's initial problems basically made the phone pretty much unusable with all its crashing and memory stick problems. SE turned the whole thing around though, and it turned into a great handset.

Theres no-way that SE would supercede the k850i that quickly.

Do yourself a vavour and check the total nr. of 'smart cellphones' sold by SE this year compared to NOKIA's N95 only for the last 6 months and you'll see what I mean
Never the less I hope you are right.
