Jesus christ, how many times must i say this.

I've met with the guy 3 times, delt with him over 5, known him over a year....

The only reason this could have happened must be one of a serious nature.

The Police isn't the answer.

Thats my opinion as a mate of the 'criminal'

I'm sure there are plenty of people that reckoned Robert Maxwell was a nice straight up guy, and would do no wrong.

Tell you what then Danny... If he's a mate do the right thing and try and sort it out, god forbid something is wrong with him, but as a mate is it not your duty to find out?

A text isn't sufficient in trying to sort it out, phone him, write him a letter, go see him, send a telegram, there are numerous ways...

let's try and help Kai out shall we? he's concerned as to where his phone is, as would I be.

What ever your opinion of him is the facts speak for them selves this thread is now 10 days old. The 8800 was sent before before the OP went on Holiday and returned. Just how long do you think is reasonable for it to take especially as he has already received the other phone to take a P990 to a post office and send it?

Even if something has happened which lets hope it hasn't it only takes a couple of minutes to communicate some information of the situation.

Just what would you be saying if it was you that now had no 8800, no P990 no money and worse of all no communication to explain what was happening? As we are obviously talking about weeks not days here.

Marc

Just phoned both the numbers i have for dave (one a Orange Contract, one a 3 PAYG)
One Said number currently out of use, one said not recognized...

Also checked my MSN+ which showed he was last online on the 25/09/2007. His MSN name was 'Dave: 2007 the worst year of my life'

I dont have his address anymore, unless its stored on the SatNav.

I never had his landline.

Any other idea's ?

Would it not be a good idea to call the police, to establish if he is conning the guys who have dealt with him, but not received their goods or money, or if there is a genuine reason for him "disappearing". In my experience, it's not a good sign when you can't get hold of the person you dealt with through the numbers they provided. Hope it gets resolved quickly guys.

I would love for him to show up on here and clear everything up, I really do not want to get the police involved, besides the police would not want anything to do with it.

I guess I am going to have to just write off the expense.

i dont make 'mates' easy, i dont know about you all, but anyone i've met online and talk to in MSN is just an online buddy at best, they aint about to be the best man at my wedding so i'd take any defence of another who has now disappeared with phones and money as suspect.

and that's not to point the finger at Danny, that's just to put some confidence in the person who's lost their phone/money through trust of a user on this site, they're not all what they seem even though they have a good relationship with others, doesn't stop them taking the pi$$ out of you.

gather all the evidence you can, get the numbers from Danny & go to the Police or tell whomever you have to.

another thought is finding out if Laffen or the admins can do a check to see if the IP address used by this user is the same as any other registered user on the site.

when people show a willingness to help by giving you whatever information they have it shows they have nothing to hide, when they deter you from doing the most instinctive things such as calling the Police it means they have some involvement and that makes them as guilty as the perpetrators in my eyes.

Danny, i suggest you PM the numbers and any info you have to the person who needs them....failure to do this leaves me thinking your involved....no arguments required thanks.

If dave was just someone i know on MSN etc i would be completly in kaisers corner. But i've been to daves house, and met up with him on 2 other occasions. Fair enough i cant dismiss the idea that he has scammed kaiser, but since i did my first deal with dave last year theres not been a day when he's not been on MSN, until now.

I suggest we write a letter to his address and find out whats happened.

ok, that puts things in perspective...thanks for the info Danny, changes my view somewhat of the 'friend' tag.

i suggest you send the address you have to Kaiser_Man so they can follow up however they wish to by calling the Police or otherwise....and based on the messages you've seen on his MSN, maybe yes, you might wish to go visit your 'mate' to ensure he's alright.
