@glorfingal:

that's one informative reply, mate. many thanks! so its pcb-dependent then and i assume if that is possible, then fw up/downgrade issues would also arise.

@razec:

yup, i definitely agree! but i simply can't have two almost identical phones (features-wise) at the same time cheers!

nah the camera shutter slider doesnt activate the camera, because the w810 doesnt have the switch on the camera flex cable like the k750 and w800 have, but hey, its better than getting the camera scratched. and my w810 was a white one originally, I did, at one stage, put the w800 backplate on, however they colour of the w810 white and w800 white is different, so it looked dodgy , plus ive always liked the k750 back, no matter how bulky it is, its not cheap/toyish as the w800 back

@sinner:

from where are you, mate? its easily available here in my place. costs around $8-$10 for a full housing minus the keypads and buttons.

you could also try mobilemodman's idea (K750 back!). i think its better in the long run, at least color combination wise

@mobilemodman:

you're definitely right, mate!

i'm actually entertaining the thoughts of doing with my phone what you have done with yours!

cheers, mates!

So could someone take a W800i and give it a black W910i front face and a black K750i backing? Would that work? Can you change the front face?

I think it would look cool with the orange round the sides.

Great way to personalize your phone!
Change themes, wallpapers or ringtone can still duplicated by others, but
this way is not easy duplicated

@caboooose:

the W800i nor the K750i back housing has no effect when fitted on the W810i since the speaker location of these three models are the same the difference lies mainly on the design that SE employed which is to obviously serve the purpose of each model having that extra uniqueness, aesthetically

welcome to Esato, mate! say hi to the rest of the community in the "newbies reporting" thread

@muhummad:

i guess that would not be possible mainly because the internal front hardware for the two models are radically different from each other indeed, having the W800i's orange middle plate is really cool on any SE model... it shouts, "hey, my phone is a Walkman!"

here's some shots of my "orange-d" W810i (changed it back to the original W810i middle plate though after a couple of months):

and here is how my W810i looks now

@marbolec:

well, aside from the main purpose of protecting the W810i's exposed camera lens, this modification has also served another purpose of having a unique W810i to have you're definitely right, mate!

cheers, mates!

I went the other way at one point, and put a W810 back and middle plate on my K750. But I missed the active lense switch so I ended up leaving the black W810 middle plate, but putting my K750 back on instead. It still makes a nice all black K750, with "Walkman" logo on the side!

No, the W810 and W800 front plates don't match. Different button arrangement.

thanks razec. Joystick has been cleaned once, but never needed repair or replacement. It only needed cleaning after I let my niece use it for playing games. Since I cleaned after that one time it's never needed cleaning again. It's solid as a rock.

So is my K800 joy. I've never understood the problems people have with joysticks tbh, it's never been an issue on any SE phones I've owned.
