you could also try a bit of foiling. for this u need a ball-point glue pen... not sure if u can get these in WHS but from stationers that sell crafting products u r sure to find them. the beauty of them is that they deliver incredibly small amounts of glue.
the foiling process involves a small amount of glue, which u leave to dry for 10-15 mins. then u apply the foil... foils come in wide range of finishes. they r available from craft suppliers and to be honest u'll probably have to buy a pack to get exactly what u want. but u can certainly get silver, gold, chrome, pinks, blue... all the colours of the rainbow... in shiny, matt, satin...
u simply rub the foil (shiny sid up) over your glue and then peel the foil away and bingo!
its permanence, however, i cannot say much about.
Here is a link so that u can see the stuff... but this is v expensive just for a few scratches on your phone.

@se4nick:
i'm also a little into model cars & toys. there was a little similar hobby shop in our area before (it closed some years ago) and i remember getting some Tamiya paints from them. these paints are not actually permanent but they (Tamiya) has this one coat that acts quite like permanent once you top it off your final paint color on any surface. and i happened to use of this stuff before in my old T610 back when i still have it to cover up some light bruises at the edges. and i find the work fine.
ms uk's use of the clear color nail polish is great! i've tried that in some of my son's "bruised" toys and they came out fine too. i think you only have to be very careful with your application. you should use a fine (a chinese brush could do) brush for this since it involves some fine detailing especially on my collection's head and tail lights yeah, i sometimes change the color of my collection's lights!
these little nail polish are actually very useful especially for people like me (us).
cheers!
@ms uk:
as to se4nick's query, where are the pics?

@se4nick:
i'll try to post some sample pics later... need to retrieve them yet from their "hiding" boxes
yeah, hurray for miniature model cars and whatever!
i'm into them primarily because of my admiration of the way such details were done on a very small scale, especially those touring cars with lots of sponsor decals, and terra cotta people complete with intricate customes in them! man, i really love these things!
there were even times before, when i was still a student, that i would even save my allowance and forego snacks and sometimes even my transportation fare (out of desperation lol) just to save and buy these quite expensive "toys". well, it was worth every effort just by looking at the modest collection that i have accumulated.
sometimes the item gets sold in a matter or hours so if you do not do anything quick, it would really be sayonara
i'm a bit partial with Tamiya and AutoArt since they are the ones readily available here in my country. they quite expensive but as i've said, such effort to secure them are well worth it (personally, that is).
way to go, se4nick! cheers!
