Well, i have to remind you all that use mail (for example gmail) on your phones (i use p990i). Turn off automatic GET&SEND function. I had it on and set so the phone was checking 3 of my mail accounts every minute. Practicly no cost for me when I am in homecountry (Slovenia). But when I went abroad (summer vacation), i forgot to turn it off. I didn't read one single mail nor use gprs or umts for anything else (except one wappush). Result? 300€ for 6 days of not even looking at mails. !!My mails weren't downloaded to phone (except subject and sender)!!!! So, think twice what functions you have ON when leaving abroad.

think about it this way, do u actually need to use the internet on ur phone? if you have broadband at home then just wait till u get home. |

I use internet on my phone just as much as internet at home, so yes, I need internet on my phone.
had withdrawal symptons nearly this morning when t-mobile were having 3G problems but a quick call to tech support told me that if I switch the phone to GSM only then I could get a GPRS connection while these probs continued so all was saved! 3G/HSDPA was working again this afternoon so all was happy again

my advice for people who complain about data charges with O2, is either don't use it, or use it, if you have a data bolton, on your account and re-set your gprs data counter when you get your allowance, at least that way u will know what you have used, and when you are approaching your allowance or used it, then don't use the internet on your mobile, and then you won't be suffering from a bill for internet charges.
either that, or do what dogmann suggested and switch networks, but untill you can do that, just dont use the net on your phone. |

The problem is with o2, no one calls and complains to them Or writes to them.
I know.
People moan but dont do anything about it.
I know this may sound untrue, but GPRS with o2 is the least complained at o2.
However when you say you are going to leave them as you want to use gprs but its only £7.50 on webnwalk, o2 have sort of started to match at £10 for a gig. But this is only when you threaten to leave them when you can.
The Current Data bolt ons are £3 for 2mb, £5 for 4mb and £10 for 20mb.
I can say that currenlty still not many people take the higher one at all

o2 charge £3 per MB there the worst network for Data in the UK as it costs so much I can leave o2 come November 23rd ive been a customer of there's for 8 years it doesn't seem there going to sort there charges out like the rest of them so im gunna get my Pac code and move over to "3" hopefully they will have that £15 deal still by then
in the meantime I don't know whether to pay off my debt installments or pay for it all now lol

Infact you can leave 02 now, im leaving them 9 months into my contract for free because they have changed there contract regarding 08 numbers which they are going to start charging on the 28th of sep 2007. So say to them "i want to cancel my contract" and if they say why, say "because 08 numbers will no longer be free" then they would go ahead with it no questions asked. And they will send you your pac code about 48 hours later via txt. |

You can only leave them under the 08 number conditions, if your priceplan was giving you them numbers free of charge, and you have been using them constantly over the last 6 months, if you weren't then your stuck with the contract.

@miss uk
you can get out of your contract without fee so long as you get 0844 or 0845 as part of your free allowance!
