Mine's from Hong Kong too. Just testing it now in a quiet room I had to have the volume on about '2' to not be too loud. That leaves lot of scope to go much louder. So I tried that anyway and it went very loud. So it doesn't seem to be a regional limitation.

I always use jog wheel to put volume up to max but still struggle to hold a conversation. I haven't tried using the supplied headphone and to be honest i don't think i will, I didn't buy the phone to use it with headphones and personally feel a bit of a pri*k using earphones to make a call so it's not an option of me.

Software or hardware problem it needs fixing and soon!
It's reassuring in a way to know that i'm not the only one experiencing these problems.

The headphone test is not ment for permanent use - just to test if the calls are received loud enough and the speaker could provide the volume. All in all it looks like a hardware issue with a very few phones and to get it solved you will have to visit a se service center. Before that I would definitly try to test another P1 if it has the same problem...

There is also a speaker test hidden in the Service Menu which helps to easily compare two P1...

Doe's anyone else think the volume of call's is far to quiet?

Don't use the functions, you cannot understand .
Now go back to Service menu ^*vv*v* (^ and v with jog dial), open Service tests-> Speakers and set spekers volume to 100%. Now close all pages and give feedback, did this solve your problem?

Did the service test, you can hear the button press tone's but it's still not very loud. Will be taking phone back to Carphone Warehouse this week.

I bought P1i in Macau CTM and I got this problem too.
I think that should be its hardware problem. I will get it back to CTM and tell you if it is its problem later.

I have the same problem. Send the unit back to SE and they exchanged a new one since they do not have spare parts. Even the new unit at Max, the volume level is disappointing.
It should be a hardware problem. Take it back.

turn up the multimedia volume - i have an m600 and a p1i which i use daily and couldn't work this out as i too was having to raise the volume with every call.

have turned it up and everything is sweet now =)

thing the firmware defaults multimedia to half volume.

note, you need to do this from the volume button, not whilst in a call.

I am having the same problem, I find myself pushing the phone further and further in my ear, it starts to hurt? I did have an o2 version which I am sure was fine? but I now have a sim free one from MobileFun on vodafone, The earpiece volume is on full all the time.

I have tried all sorts to get it louder, wired headphones are ok, and my bluetooth headset is very loud, its driving me crazy.

If I can't solve it tomorrow I am sending it back.

If anyone knows anything else to try, let me know.

Cheers

Has anyone been able to resolve this issue yet?
