@sunking 101

This might seem a little extreme:

what about doing a master reset (dont forget to back up the files) and see if it is able to connect before doing any changes to the setting or installing anything?

From what I read, that's pretty much what I did when I got my P1i, not even setting it in "internet group", and it connected alright to my router with WPA key.

just my 2 cent

regarding the issue of the phone rebooting when scanning for WLAN, it MIGHT be when stumbling through a WLAN with WPA2.

I haven't had the occasion to do some testing to validate this theory yet but if one you has the opportunity, please do the test and report here so we can pass the word to SE and try to get it fixed.

Are you able to access your router's config in Opera?

I've had the phone reboot 3 times while scanning in a particular location for wifi, but only there! Sadly I didn't have a laptop or anything else to see any info about the network at the time, and its a hour+ away.

That isn't a proper master reset. I did the full monty and all was well afterwards. There is no reason why this should have been the case though.

Something went really wrong with your quoting there, but good you have it sorted. Must have missed it while I was scanning over the thread!

Might try switching some AP's to WPA2 when I have the time, see if it causes a reboot.

Work Router - it hangs the phone when i scan
Home - still finds the wlan and connects
but still no applications using wifi will work
opera - Fring - Iskoot - all work as soon as i turn off phone wifi
tried master restart
tried everything
Everything else can connect to the router my N80 laptop and xda 11s
Sony just say send handset back, but i cant help but think its a software fault - i cant do update from the sony site as the update site is down till 3rd of september. looks like im going to have to join the masses and get the N95.... boo hoo
