Shame it's come to all this, really is.
Just want to say Axxxr did a grand job here at Esato and will truly be missed if he has officially gone.
and Masseur, just want to say that you do a great job here on Esato and what you do can't be easy. Esato would not be what it is without your presence.

Thanks, and thanks to the couple of new PM's I've received since this thread started
It most certainly is a dissapointing outcome and I really wished it could have been resolved amicably

Once more unto the breach dear friends ...
Point 1: axxxr did not need to stop posting; he did not need to stop posting news, and he did not need to leave. He has done all of those things by his own choice. Sending masseur messages to protest at axxxr being banned will achieve nothing and is actually misguided given that masseur had no intention of banning axxxr, rather it was axxxr who forced masseur's hand on the matter.
Point 2: axxxr left because the 9/11 thread ('his' thread) was closed. That's the simple fact of the matter. If one is going to leave over a thread being closed (and a thread that, in my opinion, should have been closed long long ago) then one probably has no great affiliation to the forum itself beyond that thread. I have enjoyed various threads over the years, but I have never decided to leave simply because a particular thread was closed or became inactive; Esato is a community and has a lot more to offer than a single thread.
Point 3: When will this actually end? axxxr has made it perfectly clear that he doesn't want to be a member here, going so far as to force a ban on himself when the moderator he forced to ban him was reluctant to do so and in fact had given him a great deal of leeway over the years. Why do that? It's either a case of seeking attention or wanting to be a martyr. Why support either of those? Why not accept that axxxr no longer wishes to be a member here and move on?
Point 4: masseur does a bang up job of moderating this forum! He does a job that is more difficult than most of you will ever know; I'd like to see those who have been criticising masseur do what he does for a week or two!
To those wondering whether masseur is telling the truth about the level of support he has received, let me tell you something. As some of you will know I have had experience of dealing with an axxxr situation, not completely dissimilar to the current one, although it appears masseur has stolen my crown as axxxr enemy number one. When I challenged axxxr over his demagoguery I received messages of support from various forum members whilst axxxr sent out at least one request for support (something that apparently is happening once again), which actually turned that member against him. Then there was the case of the thread branding me a 'bully', mysteriously started by a 'new' member, who's IP address was apparently familiar ... So this sort of thing has precedent and you can see how it works.
Huzzah for masseur and long may he continue to moderate fairly and impartially as he has always done! Huzzah!

We'll surely miss Axxxr's interesting news items, but he isn't a victim here, he could've and should've been acting more mature in this situation, instead of behaving like a spoilt child does, when things don't go his way.

For all those missing the news items why not do it yourself? That's how axxxr got the job in the first place! Post good quality news articles and perhaps laffen will make one of you the next news editor. That's what we do on SE-NSE; if we see someone posting interesting stories we give them permission to post on the front page.

Well, I didn't want to seem to replace axxxr so quickly, as tough as that would be, but the opportunity has always been there for members to post exciting and interesting news.
indeed I mentioned to a member a couple of days ago that I'll be happy to post the best of it on the front page (since members cannot do that themselves here) and give credit where its due

To be honest.. I have no one in mind who can be an apt "replacement" for axxxr. He was just too good with the news articles. As I dont know if it is a self imposed exile or a permanent ban, I cannot comment about his return. But I hope he does come back with his articles but minus his outspoken nature. I am no one to judge a person but I know he's a good guy. C'mom we're all good people here and this is just a misunderstanding. Opinions will clash! Forget and forgive.
Amen.

What we must remember is the 9/11 thread was closed with good reason, which is why I don't quite understand why the kickmasseur site was created, plus I think we can all be sure masseur was acting in the best interests of Esato as a whole.
If axxxr wanted to read into that as some sort of vendetta masseur had against him then so be it, but no single member is bigger than the forum itself.
The good of the esato community should always come before the wishes of one member.

@SE4NICK
I think we all know why axxxr left; he wanted to be banned and forced it upon himself.

Quite correct Goldenface & Scots, The news stuff certainly had some value (other than the odd red herring), AXXXr's bitter and rather sad behaviour in recent days is something i can quite happily live without.
Esato users are given more personal freedom and leeway as regards the content and nature of posts and threads than any Technology based forum i know.
Freedom and democracy does not encompass or enshrine the rights of an individual to be abusive towards another!!
The staff on Esato have displayed patience and endurance beyond belief with some of the threads on here, It's time to move on and get back to business as usual on here!!
