I think for nokia to release an 8gb n95 the music must be fairly decent.. |

@QVGA
The loudness of music's volume doesn't determine quality
But the N91's music quality is still better than the W950. I've tested it out. Just more 'full'.

I dont think the 8GB n95 will beat n91's sound quality. Unless the hardware will be chaged.
Heard about DSP CHIP thing that is present in the 5700 and the n91. which i think is not present in the n95. |

Exactly, the DSP chip(Digital *Sound*(not *Signal*) Processor,or also DAP(Digital Audio Processor)) is the reason why N91 is still the best.I don't know if 5700 has the same audio quality, though. The fact that 5700 has DSP chip means the sound is improved, but doesn't mean it is equal in quality to N91's one.
I seriously doubt Nokia will change the hardware, because they haven't done such thing(adding a DSP) to any other ME phone before. They'll change the software, may remove the A-GPS chip, but adding a DSP means change of the whole "motherboard" traces and etc.Its always easier to remove something than add something.

Hi all,
I agree with shaliron just being loud is no guarantee of it being good but in the case of the W950 not only was the volume lacking but so was the quality IMO.
Again one of the most important factors to effect how good the Music sounds is how the Music is encoded, you can have the best Music player on the planet but if you use heavily compressed tracks there just isn't enough information there for the player to give good results. Same goes for using a decent set of Headphones it won't matter how well the Music is encoded or how good the player is if the headphones are only average quality so will the end results be.
Which is why i and others are quite happy to praise the qaulity and results we achieve using the N95 with well encode Music and a good set of headphones. IMO there really is no point in listening to Music if the results are just OK and i certainly wouldn't listen to a couple of hours a day if that was the case.

Hi A3LX
I have since i started using AAC had it explained to me that it gives better quality at the same bit rates as Mp3. The reason i actually chose to encode in AAC@160kbps was this was the best quality setting offered by the Nokia Music Manager so it was actually more luck than judgement on my part and although space is not an issue so i could encode at better quality this would involve using something else for the conversion and as i am more than happy with the results and file size just can't see the point currently.

Hi A3LX,
Yet another conversion standard that produces smaller files but as i am happy with the way things are. I am not prepared to start re encoding all my Music to save some space so will stick with what works well enough for my needs.
I still have 700mb free on a 2gb card so space really isn't an issue for me, if i do run out of space i will just get another 2gb card for under £15 and hot swap when necessary not even interested in getting a 4gb card at this time although may get a much bigger card once they become available. I mean just how many Albums and Films do you need in the phone at one time anyway. It is very easy to copy different Albums and films across when i get bored of my current choices.

You don't have to be sorry but maybe if you read the whole thread you will see many of us have tried and and found the N95 to be far superior. Some of those that have commented have been loyal SE supporters but are not suffering from clouded judgement down to a SE badge sad but I'm afraid true the N95 is indeed much better than the W950.

Am i still an SE fanyboy dogmann? Anyway having not tried a w950 i cant really comment however the N95 seems to have far better music quality than my k800, and my w810 with stock acoustics, however it was possible to improve the w810i's acoustics and maybe make it better yet i stil doubt this would live up to the dual stereo speaker thingys

Hi A3LX,
No definitely not any longer, much like many of us here on the Forum who have found the light and realized we have a better alternative with a company that actually offers outstanding support and a great range of free apps to improve our user experience plus of course the latest and greatest specs for outstanding performance.
All of these things are what originally brought many of us to Ericsson and then SE in the first place, now if only SE would return to this original ethos they may have won most of us back but there recent actions are pushing a lot of us even further in the opposite direction which if i am honest i do find really sad. I always believed i would be loyal and faith full to SE devices but not at any price and certainly not with their current contempt they show for their customers and severe lack of current tech in their high end devices.
