i just heard in my class that CO2 and those chemicals will not dissapear, even if we stop using them, within +100 years.

cyco does have a point, and you somewhat misfired by stating the governments have better things to do than changing a few lightbulbs - interestingly, by recognising the iran-iraq-farce you acknowledge the opposite! Governments are obsessed with energy, but corrupted beyond plausibility when it comes to real action instead of reaction(ary bullshit )...

Yes the whole in the ozone was CONTRIBUTED by man but we wernt the main cause. Now many CFC's are banned and the ozone is actualy healing its self remarkebly well. Its even staggerigng a lot of top scientists how well its healling. Global warming and ozone depleation however are totaly diffrent.
Good point to bring up. Isnt it funny tho, when we are scientificly proven to harm the environment (ozone depleation) we act and have stopped it but we havnt in this case? I wonder why? Maybe because its all a load of crap! |

All I'm saying is that CO2 does act as a 'blanket', it does indeed 'trap heat'. But what isn't known yet is exactly what happens when it occurs on a global scale, i.e. exactly how much the earth might warm up by and, indeed, what effect if any that would have.

The governments are thinking long-term here, and not just about domestic customers but industry too. You could do away with quite a few power stations if everybody in the entire country cut their electricity consumption by just a small percentage. But that's beside the point really. The population is obviously growing, and if people become naturalised to saving energy now, then it will be passed on to future generations hence reducing the need for extra power sources in the future 
Im not saying your wrong. IMO I dont think the blanket is the case, however even if your right and we are causing GW we are only 1% like I said before, the sun outputs more energy a second then humans could contribute in a million years. I would say man made global warming is a lie. However if co2 is damiging the earth. Isnt it good for us? I mean shouldnt the plants be turning the co2 to oxygen, therefor protecting the environmant rather than damaging it? |

I may be wrong and I may be a complete idiot! However, if we are the cause. Whats gonna happen next? Are we really gonna stop developing as a specis just because palm trees are growing in ice land and a few polar bear's are dieing? This is all evolution and nature is septilions tomes more powerful then man. It will change our climate with man made GW happening or not. |

I agree with you mate! The whole point is that nobody can prove that mankind is altering our environment.
Plants do indeed convert CO2 to oxygen but there's speculation that CO2 trapped in the upper atmosphere will stay up there for a long time and so cannot be accessed by plants.
Is this true? Even if it is, will it have an apocalyptic effect on our planet? Nobody knows for sure! But many of the best scientific minds at the moment say 'No!'
And I'm more prepared to agree with them than the bloody media!

Exactly! Its a un proven theory and as I said in my lase post, nothing can be done dramaticly to reduce its effects true or false. If it is happening its very slowly and in very small amounts. However, any one remember global cooling? In the late 70's 80's that was the case! Now its the opposite! Whats next? Were all going to be blown of planet earth by global wind!?
Isnt it funny how now every natural disaster is the case of global warming? Well im still waiting for the next big one even if its been 2 years! (God forbbid it does happen tho) |

in Africa, the poorest nation in the world are being forced to use inconvinate solar energy when they pollute nothing.
