N95 has a LCD screen, the "white" is not as clean as it is on a K800, the "Black" is even worst.

LCD is different than TFT or can LCD be TFT?

LCD is different. I dont think they can be the same thing, If you press hard agaisnt LCD you can see the liquid split, if you scratch it, the liquid will leak.

the human eye can only destinguish between around 7 million colours http://www.colormatters.com/optics.html

but normally these phones dont even get the chance to use all 16million colours on the screen.

the main difference in screen quality is pixel size, eve a 320x240 screen has just 95,200 pixels so it would take a minium of 168 screens to show all of the 16m colours!

just some facts to consider first [addsig]

Yes the dot pitch on the LCD screen does matter and SE have been mostly better than Nokia in that regard but 262k color screens should replaced by 16M color screens in the high end phones. There is a clear visual difference.

TFT is a type of LCD. LCD is a liquid crystal display and comes in various types, TFT being one of them. Some older LCD's are not TFT but STN or another type. TFT is the best type of LCD as it gives a wider viewing angle and a brighter display.

@batesie

I dont think it is just about seeing 16m colors on the screen. What is the point of seeing 16millions pixel of various color on screen?. It is more about color depth of a pixel. (i.e. how many color can each pixel display). More color means each pixel can reproduce the scene more accurately.

I don't see any disadvantage at the moment with a phone having a 262k screen. Its hardly a something to moan about. Most 262k screens get good reviews.
