Why do you want to abandon the most advanced phone on the planet just because of the irritation with slide wobble? If you let it be, you wont even notice it after sometime when the euphoria of having a new phone fades away.

quite patheitic that the most advanced on the phone is put together in such a crappy manner...

supposedly nokia is fixing this and will warranty any that have a "defect" part.

i'm using one now it's wobble free.

Bear in mind that not all 1st batch N95 has wobble. Mine dont have and I am definitely one of the early ones to have bought. So it may be just some QA lapses from a particular product line. Seems like most wobble complaints came from european made N95.

The more crucial factor is that N95 is mostly a trouble free phone on release given that N95 is most advanced phone to hit the market. This is in itself is an achievement as compared to the ruckus caused when the N80, O2 Atom or the infamous P990 were released.

Mine wobbles to the extent that i wanted to swear it in the closed mode but i quickly learnt after the first day to use it in the opened mode as there's no wobble then and i set it to automaticaly lock when slide is closed really used to it now after twenty days it's a breeze...

theres no fixing the little wobble in closed position and still have one handed operation of the phone. if you have partially dissassembled the phone you would know what i mean. the wobble is a result of clearance between moded track on the back side of the display and the springloaded wheel that provides resistance hence keeping it firm in desired position.

as to regards the looseness of the slider part itself that can be fixed fairly easy.

first time when i got the phone i had a pick of 20 to try and i took the one with the least amount of wobble. alas after 2 days pixels started dying on me so went to the shop and had it replaced but they only had one left. had no choice. loose phone or dead pixels ill choose loose anyday.
came home took the back off t5 scrrewdriver took the right side metal brace off (the left was ok), used pliers to squeeze on the points with the cutout clearance (if you see it youll know what i mean) just enough to make the phone snug (dont overdo it or the brace will mark the sliders and scratch the paint),thats it. for those with left to right wobble while open simply tighten the screws more from both ends. the plastic rubber thing prevents overtightening as to mark the phone just carefull not to strip the screws.

this works for all minor wobbles of about 1/4 of a millimetre. for extreme looseness no choice but send it for replacement/ service

my phone is nice and snug as it will ever be. very minor movement in closed position could have eliminated it but i would have to use both hands to open the phone.

The gap on the right side of my phone when closed is about 1mm. Is this considered a bad wobble?

on my 4th phone now, still wobble but not as bad as before, going to live with it as im sick of sending it back and am now on first name terms with the courier voda use so think enough is enough.

Do you have any pics of where to bend the runners the screen slides along, might consider this now as an option.

If you did the simple trick I posted, it will get rid of wobble when in closed position as well as open position.

i dont have the pic but when you see the metal brace that holds the slider to the main body and take it off youll see its obvious as it is only place you can bend relatively easy (sugest using wire cutters instead of regular pliers as they are much better to position and squeze just those spots)

its about 1/8 inch from the ends of the bracket.
