407kph is fast.........
This was faster........16 years ago....
.......could have easily been produced, this exact car cost 15% of a Veyron to build(in 1991, let alone today)....and it's 1200hp from an engine half the cpacity.......show the fat cat Bugatt(i) up for what it is........

1991 BONNEVILLE SPECIAL MACHINE
This is the car developed for the 1991 U.S.A. Bonneville Speed Trial. With the ultimate VG30DETT on board, we achieved a wonderous speed of over 400 km/h. In the E/BMS class, we shined with a record 419.84 km/h, becoming world champions, and making a global name for ourselves. This record remains unbroken.
Do not compare a prototype to a production street legal car
you wont be able to do the school run and weekend night out in this
let alone manage cornering, handling the shear control that bugatti will give, Varion will run circles around this lump

record is only valide if you drive back in the opposide direction within 30min.
and the average speed will count.
however i think this car is sooo f*****g auwsome
to bad we'll proble never get to drive one, cause i'd shure pay a lot to one who owns a car like that to experience the thriller ...

THATS SUCH A DOPE VIDEO!!! to bad its 176x244,stil gud quality, the BUGATTI EB VEYRON 16-4 (the1 video) has about 1001bhp rite? y u ppl comparin it to da Boneville prototype? the Boneville was neva produced BUT the BUGATTI EB VEYRON was so lets leave it there, stil i wish Jeremy or Richard did dat, bt JEREMY already drove it in that topgear episode wen Richard HAMMSTER Hammond and JAMES decided to fly and then take dat train, while JEREMY drove the BUGATTI, and at the end gud old JEREMY in the BUGATTI won!

@whizz
Did you see the Road & Track magazine where Gordon Murray was invited to comment on the Veyron in a Guest Editorial role? He ripped it to shreads! Hahaha !
This is my favourite part:
"The Veyron's design team must be applauded because the starting point was so wrong. Arbitrary targets of 1000 hp and 250 mph and 0-60-mph in under 3 seconds were set at the very beginning of the program. But worse still, a styling model was shown and accepted! This is a bad starting point for any car, but for a high-performance car, it's a disaster."
Did you know that it's 12s per lap slower than a Porsche Carrera GT at the Nurburgring?

Word on the street is that Bugatti have tweaked the Veyron's 8.0L quad turbo V16 to produce 919kW (1232 bhp) for an upcoming GT model. Top speed is supposed to be over 430kph now!
Price of admission has gone up too, by GBP100,000.
Surely the only place you can do that speed is Bonneville?

As already said, it'll never beat the McLaren F1, for a start the Mclaren used a naturally aspirated engine, so have an even bigger engine to start with and then bolt on 4 turbo's yet not make it much faster is funny. Still I'd have one in a heartbeat, perhaps not in the UK though as it's a bit of a wideboy for our roads.
For me it's got to be the Aston Martin DBS.........

I said the Veryon was too wide for the UK, apparently some guy let his brother drive it.... into a van and tree!
EDIT, actually the car drove into a tree then smashed into an Astra at a junction in standing water, all that tech beating by a puddle
It was on the BBC's website:
