Yepp. The current system uses a ranking system where the gold T68 become visible the more posts you write.

And as a suggestion:
Why not turn the phone 90° make it slightly bigger and put the username on the display ? |

I don't think that is possible, because there is only one picture available that becomes more visuable when you post, and I guess that one will have to be the same for everyone.
