All very impressive, but I still wouldn't blow all that money on that thing! I'd rather have a feature-rich 'plastic' phone and buy a half-decent car or put a deposit down on one with the rest that buy one of those things!

Or buy a top of the range HD plasma TV, damned fine hi-fi, or one hell of a PC with the extra 2-3 grand I'd save buy buying a W950i or a P990i or a K800i instead of a Vertu!

At the end of the day,its mainly about if your willing to pay for quality and craftsmanship,..Vertu is a designer handset and vertu themselves class their phones as \"pieces of jewelry\"....I am really into designer things as i appreciate quality, and for that i am more than willing to pay that little bit extra.

I appreciate quality but not at that price and markup! Perhaps my standards are a bit too low, but to me the high end 'mainstream' phones from SE and Nokia are plenty quality enough!

Though my father is from Yorkshire, and I think I've inherited some of his propensity to only spend what is neccessary (on most things )

Their will be two versions of the black diamond, one version is the very limited Edition with the large diamond and then their will be the cut down version which is obviously for the mass market. [addsig]

So fatreg, now that you had one in your hnads Sunday, would you say it was a waste?

I have both a Black Leather Ascent and a Signature, and the craftmanship is incredible, the whole Vertu experience is strange in in own way - not negatively at all....

I really like the fact that they put so much effort into making a solid and reliable phone, but it's much too far out of my price range.
I also hear the menus/interface are a tad bare. Just an old Nokia one.

Yeah, but they could've put an updated interface. For its price, it is a bit of a downer.
