How to release the "eaten" memory of T68i/T300? |

Once, just once, when I turned off the phone, tok out the batteries for a min and restarted the phone, it seems like I retrieved some "lost" memory. I have not done it since because I am happy with the background and screensavers that I downloaded. |

I was having the same problem when I flashed my T68i from R3C firmware to R6A firmware. Whenever I upload a MMS template to the phone, I will lose an amount of memory equal to the size of the template. But when I open it, the memory would drop by alot. When I started playing around with the memory info under the MMS menu, I saw that you can push down on the joystick and select the MMS template item. When you do that, it shows you specifically the memory taken up by the MMS template including the actual size of the template. From THERE!!! you can delete the template and whola! you recovered the lost memory completely!!!!!
I tested several times by noting the memory of the phone from the MMS memory status, uploading the template, noting the memory change, opening the template (ie. previewing the template), noting the memory change again, and deleting from the MMS memory status page. When I check the memory now, it reverts back to where I started from!!!
REMEMBER!! it is very important that you delete the template from the MMS memory status page by pressing down on the joystick and selecting the MMS template item and then press c on the template you want to delete. Otherwise, goodbye memory! |

I have a total of 1105 KB memory on my phone with 1000 KB free! I get that when I reset my phone , but once you get into the My Pictures menu and see the thumbnails which appear after a while when you reset the phone and once they appear your free memory goes down to around 970 KB. So I am assuming the thumbnails view of the default pictures in the phone take up around 30 KB.
And these default pictures remain there even if you delete them. You just don't see them until you reset the phone. But they take up the memory. So it doesn't matter whether you delete them or not! So you might as well keep your default pictures all the time!
Hope it helps! |

Hi!
I have T300 and today I deleted preinstalled games cose I want to free some extra memory for new games and pictures...
But, when i del. those 3 games, my free memory stay at the same level, and at the same time, game memory is zero (of course, there are no more games in memory). What happend to ~150kB?????
I'm so angry! I tried to download new game, but my T300 only displays: No memory! Total of used memory is now 810Kb.
Please, can anybody help?

I think it's been mentioned before that when you 'delete' the preinstalled items, they aren't actually freed from memory. This is so that they return when a master reset is performed. |

Hi i did a master reset and Erix was the only game to remain and that is predefined so i can not delete so all the other games you should be able to delete |

I was able to free 960 KB on my t68i with the "fill memory before it gets taken by the preinstalled things" trick.

my theory is that the master reset takes a compressed image of the system rom from some perm. un-editable portion of the memory, I think erix is the only pre-installed thing you cant delete, and recover memory.
I think the eratic mem. totals are because every action uses up memory(ie the background image, opening any pics or games, thumbnails, etc, etc) and I think the thing just looses track of some of the space, I was adding and deleting alot of stuff the other day and the totals were just wacky from time to time. it also seems that I need about 10k free just to operate normaly.
Im new to the SE world, and im just learning them so if im totaly off then let me know.

I would suggest u to use the 12 second trick. i have t300 and i had a similar problem. then i did master reset and approximetly at 12 secs. removed the battery cover. Then u have to wait 30 secs and put the battery in place. Turn on the phone, the response may be slow so turn it off and then on again. I did this 2 times and it deleted all preinstalled themes, melodies and games as well as wap and e-mail settings. My phonebook wasn't deleted. This freed up a lot of memory. i had ~40 kb before and after i had ~350 kb. If u do the master reset again the all preinstalled things will come back.
P.S this also deleted my t-mobile t-zones logo at menu and startup\close animations.
WARNING: this may be dangerous and damage your phone. i don't exactly know what this thing does to ur phone. |

when u store pics into T68i, the size is 2x larger, i believe it's because it has to do with the compression of the files. The compression for harddisk is different than the memory that phones have. |
