People seem to like the addition of an optical zoom but imo it makes the phone too big if I need a picture using optical zoom i'll use a proper camera!!!
Personally I want a nice size phone (not too heavy either) that takes a respectable picture at the moment its got to be k800 or n73!!

So you'll be carrying a camera and a mobile with you for the rest of your life? Add those both, and the N93 is certainly smaller |

I usually know before hand if I am going to need to take some professional pictures in which case yes I would take a camera as well.
But as I said "personally" for everyday usage k800i or n73 produce good enough prints for me!! |

Well I'm not too fussed about having a camera with optical zoom if the results are like that of the N93. The result of having that zoom in the N93, makes the photos it produces not as crisp as they could be, and when you do zoom in to 3x, the amount of light that's able to get into the sensor is limited. Even the Ricoh GR, a high end digital camera for entusiasts, has no optical zoom, for that perfect lens setup. That's why the K800 or N73 are good phones, with adequete cameras for everyday shots. And when I need the zoom, I'll have a proper camera ready, cos I'll have planned it.
Zoom's a nice add on, but I'm not willing to trade it for that much extra size.
@QVGA
I have chosen a phone because of its weight or size. I would not like to carry around a small brick in my pocket. Obvioiusly with all the features it has, the N93 is excusable though, but I'm not getting one.

There is one practical thing to be exploded: How long time it takes to pick up N93, make it ready for photographing, take the photo (including focusing), save the photo and get ready for the second photo? This compared to candybar phone like K800.
Anyone having a helping person to measure the time for this whole process?
According the German Connect magazine N90 had the speediest response lag time of only 0.29 seconds (K750 1.40 seconds, Sony DSC-W30 0.40 seconds), but unfortunately these figures do not tell about the whole story - in the fields, when one sees something and wants to take a photo - and propably another, because the camera mobile responds (gets ready for shooting) so slowly and the best moment is long gone. And these are supposed for spontaneus point&shoot situations, no?
Actually one person could report following times to me:
Quote:
| "N93 starting up: 5.5 sec (opening and activating the image mode); focusing - 3 sec, and 4 seconds from pressing the capturing button to transfer to the new photo." |
|
So, imagine a gathering where several people are taking photos of a person/a couple. They use digicams and camera mobiles, one of them N93. While other cameras are ready for shooting in 1-2 seconds time the poor soul is still folding his N93 while others are waiting and the modell getting bored...

if u buy n93 just for still image, then most probably you made a wrong choice. You should buy it on the basis that it is the current ABSOLUTE BEST ALL-IN-ONE phone (multmedia+smartphone+wifi) with the best video recording and camera. Only then, you wont be bothered by the weight and size. |

Apologies if my post was misleading but I was NOT comparing the phone with a proper camera, I was just trying to state that I "personally" prefer a compact, light weight phone and would not upgrade to the bulkier n93 for the sole purpose of it having optical zoom.
And yes, unfortunately, my Proper Camera can only take pictures!! |

yea too bad you don't have the slightest clue of what you are talking about
You DON'T have the phone to see how it's like ... and the steps are like this :
-take the phone out of your pocket (or you have it in your hand) ~~~ 2 seconds
-take the camera protector off ~~~ 2 seconds
-open the flip and twist (thus activating the camera) ~~~ 4 seconds you're in the camera menue
-take a picture ~~~3 to 4 seconds until you have the option of saving it
-save the picture ~~few seconds
-re-entering the camera module
a week or so back me and bugsiiy did the speed test and the n93 is slower than the k800 BUT considering all the steps you have to go thru ...
and NO you don't have to w8 3 seconds for the AF it's almost the same as the k800's AF ...
BUT i will talk to bugsiiy and tel him to post over here in case i am wrong ...

Guys this review is LAME.

| For instance, the N93 comes with a 3x optical zoom and mechanical shutter |

GUESS WHAT, K800i has also mechanical shutter....
Quote:
| 2.4-inch screen which makes the otherwise excellent 1.9-incher of the K800i |
|
Its 2 inch not 1.9 LMAO.
And what about bestpic? Nobody mention it, and it's unique even for high end compact cameras. |

having used the n93 myself i was not amazed by the cam quality...
infact i found the n73 to be better...
here have a look and decide for yourself from another review site
http://www.newmobile.nl/eur/en/news.php?news_id=caf44e
n93 is a nice phone.. but gigantic... and the picture taking process isn't very practical..

compare what ?
@dragoneye ... picture quality isn't as good as the k800's BUT it's a phone made more for videos ... there's nothing out there that you could compare it to ..
as for that guy's review ... great photos buthe didn't get all the details and things that make that phone so sweet (as for what the guy in the review sayd about that protector (the one that "came right off") bugsiiy's stayed on with no problems for 3 days only after that he took it off )
