Info:
Bass response is generally dependent upon the headphones. Cheap headphones will sound cheap and not reporduce a true bass response.
Megabass is/was/ and will continue to be a stupid idea.
Buy some good headphones, not for $30 but for say $130 or more and notice the difference.

it all depends on the firmware in my opinion , im glad i chose the m600 over k800i , i wanted something different from k750i d750i w810i w800i k800i , although be getting that rumoured w830 when it comes out in december,
k800i is a really good phone though

Well i have checked three seperate phones (k790i) here in India and they all sound very soft through the speakers , i admit that the ringing volume is very good .
can sombody who have the k790i post your firmware details please. also the country which u bought . Any body in India ?

I bought a K790i shipped from Singapore with firmware R1CC003. The volume problems are just as you describe. I think it is a firmware (not a hardware) problem because ring tone and alarm clock volume is quite loud. I read that the K750 had a similar problem and it was improved in a firmware upgrade.
Also, I heard that adjusting the equalizer settings to maximum for all frequencies might improve the volujme to acceptable levels at least for multimedia. |

Thank god , somebody agrees with me . I also have the same Singapore ver with the firmware u mentioned. Somebody who claims mp3 quality = to the walkman series please post their region and firmware here . It would be of great help .
as of now k790i has been released with one firmware only , but may be the configuration varies with region . |

Well, for first i think you cant play videos frm it,cant browse tracks without changing the songs currently playing,no megabass.i think these are some key features missing.
|
|
You can browse without changing, I don't get why people say you can't. Just press the back button and you can browse around both artists and all songs in the phone without interupting the track.
Yes, they removed Megabass, but seriusly, does anybody use that feature? If you got some good earplugs or phones you don't need that. But that's what i think

What he means it that in the "now playing screen", in the w800 you could press up on the joystick and you would go directly to the playlist screen. In the k800 up does nothing, so you would have to go back and reselect the playlist. It is annoying..... |

Just one question i have, seeing as i just bought a k800i myself. I know on the w810i that i have you can manually adjust the equaliser but on my m600i you cant.
Anyways is this still a feature on the k800i??, i hope so because i also think mega bass is rubbish, completely distorts the bass etc. I find the normal eq with a few adjustments works perfectly fine and gives me great bass without it distorting the rest of the music.
So hopefully the k800i will have this feature???. |

Did you just say you bought a k800i but you do not know if the feature is there? Am I correct on reading this? Does this mean that you did not check this out but created a post for someone to tell you about a phone that you already have?

Well. You will never get Megabass in K800i. Megabass is for SE's Walkman branded phones only. And you will probably never get a Cybershot brand on a Walkman phone either.
I'm happy with the sound in K800i, even tho it's probably better in W* series, BUT I want a nice camera and I valuate that higher than the musicplayer.

Actually thats not true, my M600 message oriented handset has megabass, and it is not a walkman handset. |

Thanks mate
The M600i does indeed have mega bass but you cant actually adjust the frequencies which kinda sucks really. |

@ZuperZniper
The K800 has the unbranded media player, minus megabass.

nirmalz absolutely right about the sound here.
i'm an ex w550i and 800i user and bou i can tell the difference.
the sound through the headphones is just bad and when i plugged in the hpm-70 the sound was bad no bass it was quite low as compared to its putput on when connected to the 800i or 550i...
and guys megabass was real cool...boy it made that thump and was good when u needed that sometimes...
also if possible can you people send some good eq settings general settings and ones with good bass....
and if it is possible to tell se to do smn about it..we definately should...
cheers
