I gave a call yesterday and they said there is a press conference about the P800 next tuesday which will give official updates on release dates but the guy I spoke to did expect the UK to be one of the last due to network compatability problems. The whole has just made me .

I would have thought the christmas rush would have been SE target at least. If ericsson was not in a partnership would the p800 still be delayed?

Hopefully they are putting this down time to good use. It could use a better screen and a flash for the camera. What the hell right...... |

This really sucks!!
I have waiting for this damn phone over 3 months now. sold my T68 in august. And if they dont release P800 before Januar or februar, i'm going for another phone!!. its so damn unprofessional of SE to do this.
God i'm so damn pissed right now.

Most of you guys are what the bussiness calls "Early Adopters". You are also probably the only ones who gets *really* upset when technology get delayed. OK. It's not good bussiness practice of SE to not say anything definate about release dates, but you have to put things into perspective. Is this really of so much importance that you can't go about your daily lifes without the damn phone until it actually is released?!
As alway. I want a stable, working, solid phone. And that is probably what is holding it up (that, and featurecreep, like the MS Duo). They just wan't to make sure that this phone is solid enough to actually make money on instead of customers sending it to service again and again.
Have you read the P800 Whitepaper? The phone has a *huge* amount of features. The phone has probably been feature complete for many months now and they have probably been testing, tweaking and debugging since...
Personally have no problem waiting for this phone. My T300/Palm IIIx should hold me over until the cows come home

Well, in one way you're right, we are the early-adopters and for any normal phone that would be the pattern. However the P800 is probably one of the most complex phones ever produced (which might of course be part of the reason for the delays) and I feel most of it's appeal is to the 'geek element'; people who like high tech or work in high tech and really care about their phones.
Unfortunately for group who make up approximately 50% of their customer base is the exact same group who are p1ssed off about no word on release dates, expensive SDKs and constantly slipping release rumours!
There also is no excuse for the delayed entry into the market of the T600 (still not in the UK), and the T300 (what took them so long making a new case for the T68i?)
One lesson that will take from this, as we will also, is that phones this complex are starting to look like software development from a complexity and risk perspective. It would not surprise me if at least one major manufacturer takes so long to develop their phone that it never makes it to market as competitors effectively make their product obsolete before release. Let's hope that this is not the fate of the P800...
