Optimised displaydriver for better gamma/contrast |

I've always used png's for themes and wallpapers, simply because of the obviousness of jpeg compression on small displays.
Fortunately, on my own K750 gamma correction is already good, pixels are crystal clear. Get the pun?
But if I had such a K750 I'd be dead keen to perform this op.

hehe - got it max
My sons K750 display was also allways spot on, which just made me more annoyed with my own K750 display that had the gamma wrong, but this fixed it for me

Is this "gamma correction" on our K750i units dependent on when it was made? ie. earlier models of the K750i may not have it, but the latter does.
I used to own a first batch K750i with this white keypad backlighting. Now the one I have has a stronger white backlight, but seems purple at times.

I used this new display driver on my k750i (modded to w800) but quickly switched back. It seemed to make the blues in photos of the sky better but it also gave me a strange horizontal-grid-like thing at some viewing angles which really irritated me.
I found the same problem with my cousin's k700. It had the grid thing and the colours were similar to my k750 with the new display driver. |

And what about battery life? Battery life with brightness set to 50% is definetively longer then set to 100%.

Does it really work in w800 too? How'd I know if it improved or worse the screen display? Any way to test besides 'my eye'? Thanks.

Mmm... I don't realize if it's better with this driver or with the original. Any specific test I could reproduce to note this?
Is the driver supposedly always better than the original? If so, then I'd just leave the new modded one, cause it'd be better.
And about the battery, as previously asked; if this modded version increases gamma, contrast or whatever, doesn't that also incresases memory consumption?
Thanks.

Heyyyy...
How could I test to see if pictures are better with this or with the original driver? I don't "visually" realize...
