WHY couldn't you just unplug the card from the phone in stand by mode before asking suck a dumb question?

You seem to be the only person who does think it's a dumb question.

Also, I have looked at your previous posts and you seem to think that everybody is dumb and there is no room on forums for people like you who are obviously just Trolls.

have you tried it? havent tried it with themes... coz my idea is when you really pull the memstik out... the file your tryin to access maybe invalidated...

tho i have tried it with my screensavers... the moment i pull the stick.. the obvious happened... the screensaver vanished then the phone chosed NONE on the screensaver options...

so if you have a special theme or screensaver you want to use all the time.. make sure to move it or copy it into the phones memory....

ive also experienced having my screensavers in memstick... every now and then it disappears as my screensaver... then i hafta put it back again over and over... so i decided to put those things id always luv to see always on my phones memory.

ciao!

Whell, that's the whole idea with having parts of the memory removable and other parts fixed to the phone. Those thing you always want to have in your phone, like the ring signals, themes and screensaves, you put in the phone memory. Other things, like mp3 files, pictures and photos taken with the camera, you put on the memory stick. Doing lika that, it's not very inconvenient to have more than one memory stick, for example one for the camera and one for the mp3 player, and swap between them when needed. Only problem is how to store the memory stick that is not currently installed in the phone. It's so small and it's likely to get damaged if it is not handled properly.

@altemyr
Mate, i appreciate your view. but you took my query to a different level. My query was "Will removing the MS do any harm if we're using a theme stored in the MS as the current theme".

@Rockygali
I couldn't hold back my curiosity for long, so i tested. and IT WORKS...mabbe there's some CACHE thing goin on with the mobile's internal memory specially for the files used in the current settings. I haven't experienced any VISIBLE 'harm' as yet.

I do know what the question was about, but I was just referring to the post directly before mine.
About the question if the theme is harmed if the memory stick is removed, I don't think so. I have actually deleted the .thm file from the phone entirely while it still is the selected theme without losing the current theme settings. I think selecting a theme actually copies the settings specified in the theme into apropriate locations in the phone's memory.

I *don't think* it will affect the theme. I know on the K750i you could set the theme, then delete the theme file from the phone and the theme would stay intact. That would suggest that when you set a theme, it is automatically embedded in the phones internal memory...which also mighht suggest why it take so long to load a theme. I assume this is the same for the K800i, but haven't tried it yet, so im not 100%. But if it is, that wiould suggest there is no problem with removing the card even if the theme is on it.

And in which way do you mean that you contributed to this thread?

I can only speak for myself, but if I find a problem that I can't fix myself, I usually ask a question about it, and in those cases I believe I know an answer of a question someone else has asked, I try to answer to the best of my knowledge. It's a matter and give and take, and has nothing to do with being a smartass or a wiseguy. Nobody knows everything.

I agree with you @ altemyr
No one in this thread is a SCIENTIST. We are basically sharing 'experiences'. And some users might have more experience than the other in a particular TOPIC. But he's not an expert or 'wiseguy' as bugsiiy would refer to. You might find the very guy posting questions in another section of the forum...as simple as that...

Themes are not run off the memory card when selected your theme it was saved into memory on the phone (which is why it takes so long to apply a new theme) removing the memory card will have no effect

Sony would have covered most of the bases here on Hot Swap Memory sticks so dont worry.

You can even remove your memory stick switch the phone off and it will still have the theme in memory.
