I was just about to say that.

@Arde
I highly doubt it as the Z550 uses an upgraded UI, like the menu found in the K800, and the K750 uses the old UI.

So the z550i uses the same new UI as the k800/K790 etc?
And it allows you to have multiple java apps running? |

@Charge
Yes, it has the identical UI to the K800, with a lower screen resolution. It has an activity button, so yes it can run multiple Java applications running at once.
And welcome to Esato

Yes, they are compatible, you can use K750 themes on a Z550 and Z550 themes on a K750. I've done it. SE themes tend to be compatible as long as the screen resolution is the same. |

The z550i UI is something of a hybrid between w810 and K800. No RSS, but it has the same MP3 player as the K800.
And no, you can only run a single java app at once. The phones that support multiple apps are the new Java platform JP-7: K610, K790, K800, W710, W850 and Z710 |

Thanks for the info:)
Ok, a couple of more questions:
1) Can you turn off the camera sound in the Z550?
2) Is it possible for JP-7 (or at least the multiple java apps thingy) to be implemented via a future firmware update?
3) Can you play videos in full screen mode?
4) Can you pause a video? Can you fast forward/rewind a video?
5) What's the message memory like?
6) Does the built in browser support
a) Downloading in the background?
b) Multiple tabs/windows?
c) Minimizing?
7) Can you copy/paste? For example: Can I have opera mini running in the background, receive an sms with a link, copy the link into Opera and then use it?
Lol. I know that that’s a rather long list of questions but any help would be really really appreciated... |

1) Yes, at least in my region (EU4)
2) Probably not, and even if it was they wouldn't do it
3) No
4) Yes and yes.
5) Can't remember
6)
a) yes
b) no (not even the K800 does this)
c) no (not even the K800 does this)
7) yes |

Damn this phone is cheap in Australia! Only $199 PAYG from Vodafone (shudder) which is equivalent to about 80 pounds. Seriously, now the K510 will have to be really cheap to look enticing, and same with the rest of the market.
And just as a side note the K750 is $279 (112 pounds) with an SE bluetooth headset now. Everything is crashing in price in Australia!

Hi, Its been a long time since I last posted, Just wanted to pick a phone tommorow- My brother wants K 510i or Z550i..I've seen the K 510i...about the Z550i I just wanted to know..can it play MP3 ringtones on call or not...Says only Polyphonic..But I really wanted to confirm that..and Hope it has better reception..! Also, Does it need to be left opened to play music, or we can minimise the player and close the flip.

I'd get your brother to get the Z550. Memory expansion, the unbraded player (so you can play with the flip closed), better screen and design, and you can play mp3s as ringtones. The K510 is stuck with 28MB of memory and is worse in every way, except for the camera, which is it brilliant. The Z550 on the other hand, has the worst 1.3 megapixel camera that I've ever seen. It's pathetic, even worse than the W550's camera, which was bad.
