Changed the title, as while on my lunch hour today, I paid my local CPW in East Ham, east London, a visit.
I saw the Z530i in their latest catalogue and asked one of the sales guys to check availability/ stock.
It IS available and according to him they have ample stock in the back of the shop!
Now then, the CPW PAYG stock, as we know, is unlocked and basically sim-free.
Secondly, only £89.99 on O2 wbw £10 airtime... thus unlocked/sim-free and a tenner's worth of airtime from CPW for the same price as the O2 site's network-locked examples... RESULT!

Correct. This doesn't seem logical; it's the same as when I bought the Panasonic VS6 and Sagem myX6-2 from CPW. If you 'decide' to take a PAYG simcard with the handset, it becomes subsidised to an extent, as it is sold as PAYG then, even though it is exactly the same handset if i asked them for 'handset only'.
Thus, choose whatever SIM is the cheapest option, include the £10 obligatory airtime and it's then still cheaper than if you didn't choose a SIM and airtime with it; it's exactly the same sim-free stock!

In a nutshell:
1. buy CPW unlocked, sim-free handset with £10 airtime and sim and get it 20 quid cheaper (PAYG-subsidised)
..or
2. buy exactly the same CPW handset without the above (thus sim-free and un-subsidised) and pay 20 quid more...!
